A short scream of fright escaped her throat before the joy of recognition thrashed through her and she twisted round to see Alejandro silhouetted on the poolside.

CHAPTER ELEVEN

ITDIDN’TEVENcross Flora’s mind to play it cool. She couldn’t have stopped the beaming smile from forming even if she’d tried. ‘You’re back!’

Pushing her feet off the pool’s side to propel her, she swam over to him. The water’s depth there came to her breasts and she put her feet on the bottom and her hands on the edge of the pool, and gazed up at his gorgeous face. ‘You’ve grown a beard.’

He stroked it. ‘You like?’

‘It’s okay.’ She grinned. It was more than okay. It made him look even sexier, something she would never have thought possible. ‘How come you’re back?’

He leaned over and removed his shoes and socks. ‘I cancelled the rest of my meetings.’

She drank him in. ‘Why?’

He straightened, fingers on a shirt button, his eyes capturing hers. ‘I missed my family.’

Her heart swelled. ‘You should have told me you were coming home.’

‘I wanted it to be a surprise... Is it?’

‘Well, duh.’

‘I mean, is it a good surprise?’

‘It’s okay.’ Her mouth forming another beaming smile totally negated her efforts at nonchalance.

His teeth flashed, eyes crinkling. His shirt went flying behind him. ‘You have missed me?’

Desperately.‘It’s...different when you’re not here.’

His naked chest rose and his glimmering gaze stayed on her even as he undid his trousers. ‘I missed you.’

Her heart swelled so much at this admission that it stuck in her throat.

Now fully naked, his discarded clothes scattered all around him, Alejandro dropped himself into the water next to her and put his hands on her hips, twisting her round to face him.

‘Didyou miss me?’ he asked, sliding his arms around her back to hold her closer.

Winding her arms around his neck, she tilted her head back and sighed her pleasure at being back in his arms, then raised herself up on the tips of her toes to kiss him.

He moved his head back before her lips could connect and fixed a stern stare on her. ‘Did you miss me?’

Flora stared into the dark, melting eyes she had missed more than she’d believed was humanly possible but something held her back from making that confession.

Alejandro had so much power over her. More power than he knew. Emotional power.

He was Flora’s one and only. Her feelings for him ran so deep they were an intrinsic part of her, but for her to admit any part of it would be to hand him even more power. To admit to any part of it would be to put it out in the open. Would make it real.

Words that were said could never be unsaid.

The sternness dissolved, replaced by a knowing gleam, and he clasped his hands to her waist and lifted her high off her feet.

Instinctively, she wrapped her legs around his waist and was rewarded with the hard tip of his erection jutting against the fold of her sex. Only the material of her swimsuit stopped him diving straight into her.

He carried her up the gentle slope of the pool’s floor until he found the perfect height to sit her on the pool’s edge, groin to groin.

Only then did he kiss her, and, dear heaven, what a kiss it was, a slow fusion of lips and the slow stroke of his tongue against hers, as seductive, sensual and perfect a kiss as it was possible to have.
