Of course, he knows, they all probably do.

“Go on, Nova, I know you're curious. Ask them what Bass is hiding.”

King tenses, his fists clench on his thighs as he watches me.

“King?” I murmur softly, doing my best to hold it together.

“I’m sorry, Nova. I’m so fucking sorry.”

Groaning,my eyes adjust to the darkness. My head falls back feeling groggy and slightly unbalanced, it takes me a moment before I realize I'm tied to a chair.

Fuck.

“Welcome back, son.”

My father's voice resonates.

“W-what happened?” I question, shuffling, trying to break free from the rope.

“Struggling won't work, Sebastian,” my father says, moving to stand in front of me and placing his hands in his pockets.

“Why am I here?”

“Because Carter wasn't about to kill my son.” I frown, unsure what he means.

“Your friends will be gone soon and only Nova will be left,” he says, plucking a cigarette from a packet on the table beside him.

“No,” I growl. The rope digs into my flesh as I bounce in the chair, aiming my glare at my father.

“You've disappointed me, Sebastian,” he says, sucking in a deep breath of the nicotine.

“Your brother was much easier to control then you, I've let you dishonor me for the last time.”

I gulp, trying my best not to show any fear to Leonard Hale knowing my father only saved me to do the job himself.

“Where's Nova,” I croak.

“Being dealt with,” he says matter of fact.

“My friends?”

“I told you, Sebastian, Carter is dealing with them. I think he'll enjoy destroying The Sinners, especially that Kingston boy.” He sneers.

“Don’t think I don’t know about the secret you’ve kept hidden Sebastain,” he snaps with disgust.

My heart clenches, knowing I'll never see King again, never get to say goodbye.

Nova will never forgive me.

“Your mother wanted to spare you, but since you've done nothing but disappoint me, Sebastian, I have no choice but to end your life, just like your brother, just like Santonio.” He smirks when my head dips up, forcing his penetrating stare at me.

“Argh, didn't know that part did you?”

“Why?” I question him.

“Power, Sebastian, simple,” he says, tossing his cigarette to the floor, and crushing it with his boot.

“He never saw it coming, too cocky for his own good. Too bad he left behind so much for me to take, including his daughter which I'll have, once I take care of Carter and Miller.”
