Unlocking the door to the hotel room, he stepped in and stared in disbelief.
Hannah was naked in the heart-shaped tub. Bubbles covered her from her neck to her toes, but still he could see glimpses of her skin. Her naked skin.
She opened her green eyes and stared at him. “Come on in. The water is hot. And we have champagne and chocolate-covered strawberries.”
Swallowing, he stared dumbfounded. Did he join her? Could he resist her if he got naked with her?
CHAPTER2
Hannah Young had loved Noah for years and she was tired of him being in a coma when it came to her. Oh, there were times when he had come close to overcoming his scruples and kissed her, but he always backed away.
At the last second, he would withdraw from her and she would see the desire in his eyes fade.
Well, this was do-or-die time. She was not going to wait for him after this weekend. They either moved on or she did.
He stood in the doorway gazing at her like a frightened bug in a spider web. Though her name wasn’t Charlotte, she’d either be tasting him or flying home.
“What are you doing?”
“I’m soaking in the tub and I asked if you’d like to join me,” she said.
“But…”
If the man gave her an excuse, it might become very tense in this hotel room. For over five years, she’d been waiting for him to notice that she was the right one. It was now or never.
“Are you cold?”
“Yes,” he said looking away. “It’s really coming down out there. If it starts lightning, you need to get out of the water.”
If he didn’t join her, he would have more to worry about than the storm raging outside. She wanted sparks flying between them. An inferno in this hotel room created by their two bodies, not the storm outside.
“The hot water will warm you up,” she said. And she would do her best to make him so hot, he couldn’t keep his hands off her.
With a sigh, he turned his back to her.
“I poured you a glass of champagne,” she said.
“Thanks,” he said, removing his coat. She could see he was nervous.
This man’s mind was brilliant. In the emergency room, he gave orders like a drill sergeant to save people’s lives and he was very good at it.
But over the years, she’d watched him get nervous around women, and she didn’t understand why. Especially not her. They were the closest of friends. Best friends.
They consulted each other about everything, and most of the time they agreed, not because she caved to him, but because they reached a logical conclusion. Surely he could see that she wanted more from him. More as in a relationship that went beyond friendship.
“Hannah, are you certain we should do this?”
“Shut up and get in the tub,” she told him. “We’re going to soak in here, drink champagne, and who knows what might come up.”
Inside, she was laughing. She knew exactly what she wanted to come up. She’d even packed a box of condoms for this trip and they were now in the nightstand drawer. It seemed this storm had conspired with her to give them this time together. She hadn’t wanted their first time to be at his father’s house. and now they had tonight to be all alone where they could make as much noise as they wanted.
Sitting on the bed, he removed his boots and socks. Why he was taking so long, she didn’t know, but she’d seen him naked before. Sometimes in the hospital, they had to change their scrubs in the locker room and there was no privacy there. You turned your head and hoped no one was looking. But she’d gazed at the muscles in his back, his firm buttocks, his thick thighs, and even once she’d caught a glimpse of his cock.
A nice long specimen she was eager to experience.
Standing, he removed his jeans and turned to glance at her staring at him.
“Close your eyes,” he said.
