“It’s amazing.” I said to Nico and then automatically felt a little sad. I had to ask the question or I would kill myself with dread. “Is this a parting gift?”

Rico, who had been adjusting the propane, jerked around to face us. His gaze went to me and then to Nico.

“A parting gift?” They both said.

“Because if it is, then I have to say something.”

“Freya,” Nico started.

“I just wanted to say that,” my words caught at my throat. All this time I felt like I couldn’t contain it, now it wouldn’t come out. “I wanted to say even though we started off terribly, I have since come to, um… feel…” Their anxious gazes only made it difficult. Fuck it, I’m just going to say it. “I love you. I love you both. And if you don’t that’s fine, because I will cherish my memories with you and—”

Nico dropped the flask in his hand and kissed me fervently. He let go of me, only to feel Rico’s lips on mine. “This is not a parting gift,” he said. “I think I’ve loved you ever since we were on the island and realized I couldn’t get enough of you,” Rico said.

“I’ve loved you longer than that,” Nico said. “Probably the first time I met you.”

They both stepped back and dropped to their knees. Nico took out a little velvet box in his pocket and opened it. A diamond ring lay at the center. My knees felt weak. My gaze darting between them. “Freya,” Nico said. “Will you be our wife,” Rico said.

My knees gave way. I hugged them both. “Yes, I whispered.”

The End.
