She looked up at her boy and her heart was full. She’d never felt this content in her life. She caught sight of Link chatting with Poppy—she had a lot to be grateful for.

“I’m glad you came.”

Boone glanced over his shoulder. “I like him.”

“So do I.”

“You’re happy?” She saw the worry and concern.

“I am.”

Boone gave her one last kiss and headed for the door. He shook Link’s hand, tucked his arm through his wife’s and they headed out into the snow. Elise turned off the lights and wandered over to Link who immediately pulled her back against his chest as they looked out into the night. The headlights from Boone’s truck illuminated the snow as it fell in steady waves, and the wind rattled against the glass. Out there it was cold and nasty but here with Link’s arms around her, Elise was warm. Content. Deliriously happy.

She was a walking, talking romance novel.

She turned in Link’s embrace and reached for his mouth. “I hope you’re planning on spending the night,” she whispered.

“What do you think?” he murmured against her mouth.

“Good,” Elise kissed him and then pulled away with a grin. “I need someone to shovel in the morning.”

“You let me sleep in your bed and I’ll shovel your driveway and your neighbor’s driveway and every single driveway on the street.”

“Might be difficult,” she said, reaching up for another kiss.

“Why’s that?” he asked, roughly, his hands on her butt.

“Lack of sleep.”

He answered by deepening the kiss, scooped her into his arms, and they headed to her bedroom.
