And there were a ton.
Vases, paintings, jewelry.
Chairs, tables, chests.
Everything your heart desired.
Stefan even bought me a few romance books—in Italian. He said Eve and I should learn it since we’d be in Italy so often, anyway. And the kids would definitely have to learn it, too.
I just smiled and let him buy me the books.
Then Stefan insisted on buying me some jewelry. I insisted that he didn’t have to.
But he bought me a few necklaces and some beautiful earrings. The best part of it all was listening to Stefan barter. He was cunning and smart—as well as aggressive and stubborn. Watching him deal with the cantankerous vendors—well, it was a huge turn-on.
After he’d bought the last pair of earrings, he helped me put them in. They were silver hoops with an intricate design on them that I loved. “What’s this look on your face? I’ve never seen it before?” Stefan asked, letting his fingers linger near my neck while he admired the earrings on my lobes.
I stared at him straight in the eyes and said, “I’m so wet right now, Stefan. I can barely stand how much I’m aching for you.”
His eyebrows rose, and his chin actually dropped. “Um, excuse me?”
I gave him a small smile. “The way you deal with people is so—smexy.”
He laughed right out loud and kissed me. “Sweetheart, I’m going to get that hotel room in a minute. But first, there’s one more place I want to take you.” His lips touched mine, and then he grabbed my hand and tugged me behind him.
The crowd here was getting bigger and bigger as each moment passed. It would definitely have made me feel uncomfortable if Stefan wasn’t here.
A minute later, we walked into a booth that was—gorgeous. “Oh, my gosh,” I said as I gazed around in wonder.
Stefan chuckled and said, “This is why I wanted to bring you here. Serafina has the best fabrics in the country. Right, Serafina?” He spoke to the older Italian woman. She sat on a chair and nodded. “What kind of material are you looking for, cara mia?”she spoke in English, but her Italian accent was heavy.
I smiled at her and started asking some questions about what the materials were made of and how they washed. Then I told her some ideas I had, and she grabbed out several bolts of fabric for me.
It.
Was.
Amazing.
Idea after idea floated around in my head. And my fingers itched to get started on a few projects.
This was going to be so much fun.
Stefan set down the many bags we already had and pulled out his wallet. He handed Serafina one of his cards to pay. They spoke back and forth in Italian for a moment before she nodded.
“Thank you, honey.” I turned to Stefan and gave him a hug.
His arms wrapped around me. “It’s mostly selfish. I’m hoping you’ll make some sexy shit out of it.”
I giggled and looked up at him. “I have a few ideas.”
His head bent to mine. “Good.” He kissed me and I sighed.
Serafina interrupted us. She told him the card processing was taking a while this morning. And that it would be a few minutes or more.
He nodded and thanked her. Then he looked down at the bags and said, “I want to grab a doll for Daniella.” He pointed two booths down.
My heart grew, knowing that he was thinking about my kid. I wanted to tell him that wasn’t necessary—that he didn’t need to buy her anything.
