“What’s going on?” I ask. “Sophia, should you be running?”
“Please, I have four husbands to keep up with. This is nothing,” she assures me.
“What happened with Lief?” I ask, then realize I’ve never seen him drunk. He’s drank plenty, but he’s only ever been tipsy around me. “Is he okay? Is he hurt?”
“He put Kon in a choke hold and teased him until Hunter slipped away. Apparently, you’re better than strippers, the most expensive steak the world offers, and partying with friends,” Gunner informs me. “I’d give you props if you weren’t such a distraction.”
“Are my men okay?” I demand.
“You’re not drunk enough,” Gunner says before handing me a flask.
I narrow my eyes, drain it, then hand it back. “My fiancé’s better be in one piece and still gorgeous when we get to the venue in two days.”
“Right now, they’re all free of bruises, but they’re determined to grab you and carry you home,” Gunner pants.
Sophia hugs him. “You did your best, gorgeous.”
“They’re belligerent. Also, paparazzi happened, so there will be some unflattering pictures. Hunter, being held up by two women, will be one of them,” Gunner informs.
I sigh and rub my forehead. “Great.”
I hear police sirens and point at Gunner. “Go make sure that’s not for my men and tell them I went home. They’ll go happily.”
“I think Lief is tracking your phone,” Gunner answers.
I take his face between my hands. “Gun, they’re drunk. How hard can it be to give them all one more drink so they pass out and then you can drag them into a limo and leave them on the couch or floor. I have faith in you. Use the muscles Sophia says you have and take care of my grooms to make sure they show up at the altar.”
Gunner looks from me to Sophia. I turn his chin back to me. “Are you going to let Roman steal the spotlight and save the day?”
He points at me. “That’s a dirty ploy.”
“I’m just saying.”
He hurries off and Sophia sighs. “You like to stir trouble, don’t you?”
“I just know what works. Gunner is still threatened by Roman, so all I have to do is hint. I’d send you to get it done, but then your husbands will get distracted. Let’s go to a hotel,” I suggest.
Sophia texts Juliana, Danny, and Elaine as she and I head to the suite we booked. I sigh as I fall back on the plush bed, then my phone rings. It’s Lief.
I groan and roll onto my belly. “Hi, Viking, are you having fun?”
“You’re not at home,” he accuses.
“No, but you are, so get some rest for me.”
“We wantyou,” he growls.
“You’ll get me after our wedding day. We all agreed it would be a special night, so that’s what we’re going to do. Behave and you’ll have kinky fun with me after we say, I do,” I say.
“I don’t like this. You should be here. I’ll come find you,” he decides.
“Lief Prins, if you leave the house, I’m going to the courthouse and marry Chase,” I say.
He’s silent.
“You’re supposed to be the logical one. Tell me the stats for drinking and driving where things end well,” I order.
Again, he says nothing.
