“Yours,” Emma Jean panted.

Her body convulsed with pleasure again. Her knees buckled and she would have dropped if not for Rad’s powerful arms holding her up like she weighed nothing at all. She could only hold tight to his muscular forearm and brace herself against the RV while he hammered into her a few more times. He gritted his teeth and dug his fingers into her soft flesh while his hips snapped back and forth.

“Fuck, yes,” he groaned, dropping his head forward to her shoulder as he emptied himself inside of her. Emma Jean squeezed his cock with all her might, pulling out every drop of his seed. They stayed entangled for a few moments, breathing hard in the timid light of dawn.

Finally, Rad withdrew, still holding Emma Jean steady as he turned her around. He kissed her softly and brushed the messy curls back from her face. She leaned her full weight into his arm around her waist. He didn’t flinch, only staring down at her with radiant intensity. His face was framed by the gold and bronze sunbeams over the mesa. He looked like an angel, despite the less than innocent position they were in together.

She smiled up at him. Emma Jean had thought she knew what ‘Zen’ felt like. But here, naked under the rising desert sun with her mysterious lover, she felt more at peace than ever before. Totally vulnerable but unafraid and unashamed. He made her feel soreal. Nature took over when they were together. They belonged to the wild landscape as much as the coyotes and cacti.

“I want to stay like this,” Emma Jean said softly.

Rad gave her a curious smirk. “You might have to call in sick, then.”

She giggled and rose onto her toes to kiss him. “I don’t necessarily meanexactlylike this. But I want to spend more time with you. Alone.”

“So you’re saying I won myself a second date.” He grinned.

“Congratulations,” she said with a wink.

“Hell yeah. Well, let’s make sure you get to work on time. I’ll get dressed and start packing up the campsite. You can go ahead and take the first shower, if you’d like,” Rad offered as he climbed up into the RV.

Emma Jean checked the time on her phone. “Ooh, yeah. It’ll be a close one. Especially since we’ll have to stop by my place for yoga clothes.”

Rad reappeared in the RV doorway, dressed in a white t-shirt and jeans, with a sage-green matching top and bottom gym outfit draped over his arm. “I took care of that,” he said. He handed her the clothing and she looked at him dumbfounded.

“Is this…?” she trailed off.

“I ordered a duplicate of the yoga outfit you were wearing the first time I saw you. In a different color, of course. Why would you need two of the same color?” Rad mused.

“You got my size exactly right,” Emma Jean pointed out.

“The shower in here is stocked with your usual products, too,” he added.

“Even my embarrassing dandruff shampoo?” she muttered.

“You’re a woman who takes good care of herself. I admire that. Nothing embarrassing about it at all, except for the fact that I found the same product for a much cheaper price than you’ve been paying for it,” Rad went on, casual as hell.

Emma Jean stared at him with narrowed eyes, trying to figure him out. On the one hand, she felt a faint invasion of privacy. Rad must have been even more of a tech whiz than she’d thought. On the other hand, it was incredibly flattering to have a guy like this so meticulously attuned to every detail about her. He truly wanted to know everything, and not just to satisfy his own curiosity; he wanted to know exactly what made her happy.

“You’re going to have to give me some details about your world soon, Rad,” she told him as she climbed up the RV steps. “At this rate, you’ll know everything about me before I even begin to figure you out.”

She gave Rad another kiss on the cheek as she passed him on her way up the narrow steps. She paused to watch him folding up the blankets for a moment, just admiring his muscles in the sunlight. Then she stepped into the little RV bathroom and switched on the shower. She hummed to herself as she checked the miniature versions of her favorite products and confirmed that, yes, indeed, Rad had picked out the exact lineup she used at home. Emma Jean slipped into the hot shower and sighed happily.

She could hardly believe that she had only known Rad for such a short time. He was so familiar to her and fit so naturally into her life. Despite her frosty first impression, she understood their meeting as an act of serendipity at least, and fate at most. She seemed destined to meet him, and now that they had shared the night together, she knew her place was beside him.

She was just finishing up rinsing her hair when she heard some muffled shouting outside. There were some rattling sounds and then a loud thump that shook the whole RV. Emma Jean braced herself on the glass wall, eyes wide as saucers.

“What the hell? Rad!” she called out. She stepped out of the shower and wrapped a towel around herself, reaching for the RV door. “Rad, are you okay out there?”

As soon as the door swung open, she was knocked backward into the bathroom by a large hulk of a man launching into the RV. Emma Jean fell to the slick bathroom floor, heart pounding as the stranger dipped down to her level.

But he wasn’t a stranger. Not entirely. She recognized his face from Saguaro Bank.

And then he pointed some kind of shiny weapon at her, and her body exploded with pain.
