Penny fingers her bleached strands from the top of her head to the bottom, which reaches her waist and gives me a wicked grin. “If you’re sure you don’t want him.”

I tilt my head to one side, feeling a slight strain in my neck muscles as I grimace. What doesn’t she understand? “I really don’t.”

“Maybe the office party will be my opportunity. No doubt, he’ll come to me asking where you are, and...” She blows her fingernails and smirks. “And I’ll get on my knees for him.”

“Oh my god, Penny. Too much information.” I bite into my lip to keep myself from smiling. “Or maybe not... tell me all about it next week.”

“I will if you tell me who the guys are in Jed’s office,” she asks, sitting on the end of my desk and crossing one slim leg over the other. “Who is the big guy?”

She uncrosses her legs, looking provocative as she stares into the office. Being Penny, I’ve got no idea if she’s even wearing panties.

My heart stays intact when I see the men still locked in a deep conversation. “The younger one is probably a new signing. The other is maybe his agent,” Penny says.

I was wondering about it myself. “There’s nothing on the calendar or his personal diary.”

“He’s nice,” she says as my eyes roam to where hers are looking. “Come to think of it. Isn’t that the hockey player? What’s his name?” She clicks her tongue over and over. “Colton Sinclair, he plays for Boston. Carver’s brother. I’ve seen his file. Shame he has a girlfriend, otherwise I’d be over him like a rash.”

I burst into laughter. “How do you know so much?”

“I work for the team’s lawyer. Of course, I know all about hockey, the players and future players.”

I work for the other one, but didn’t know.

I shrug my shoulders. I’m not looking at the young man. I’m staring at over six feet of lean muscle, which looks sculptured in a tailored suit. He turns his arm and glances at his twenty thousand dollar Rolex. Yes, I did already see it when I stood behind him in the elevator.

“He’s gorgeous,” Penny says, a slight hum to her tone.

“He is,” I agree.

“I thought you hated him.”

I snort. “I thought you meant the hot guy in the charcoal suit.”

“Holly, he’s probably twice your age.” She smirks as she jumps off the desk, leans her head to my ear, and whispers, “And I never took you for needing a daddy.”

I turn back to the office and see him staring at me. His eyes slide down the length of my body, making my spine bolt upright against my chair.

His eyes skate upward before his gaze locks on mine. There’s a gentle nod of his head. Just one tiny dip that makes my legs turn to jelly, and I’m glad I’m sitting in the chair.

He turns his head back to my boss.

“What was that about?” Penny asks as I stare at the side of his face for a few seconds longer.

“No idea.”

Chapter 4

Aiden

It’sbeenovertwenty-fourshours since I last saw her in Jed’s office and I can’t get her out of my mind.

There’s still something tantalizing about her, and it’s not just her delicious scent.

Despite being an omega, and not one in hiding, she didn’t bow down to Jed; he hated it, but for me that’s dangerous. I like a strong-willed omega, but add to that one who is beautiful, with long pastel colored hair, delicious curves, and legs that I want wrapped around my neck.

It was when her mesmerizing green eyes were on mine that I felt something stir and it had my dormant alpha purring inside me.

I knew it would.
