Theopulentdimlylitballroom is adorned with twenty-five perfectly round tables. Each seats ten people who have paid a small fortune to attend the team’s charity fundraiser.

The tables are beautifully set with white linen cloths with gold trimmings that catch the light, adding a touch of luxury.

Ahead, the stage awaits, where Aiden will warmly greet the guests before the emcee assumes control.

Before dinner, an auction will take place, and I hope tonight unfolds precisely as I envisioned.

This is my job now. As the newly appointed Fundraising Manager for the New York Bears, I’m thrilled to be organizing my biggest event yet.

My cell vibrates in my hand, jolting me out of my thoughts as I stroll back to the double doors where my future husband awaits.

I check the message. Smiling because it’s Aiden checking up on me. He is always worried whenever I’m not near him.

“Holly.”

As I spin around, I see Harlow, Colton Sinclair’s girlfriend. She’s gorgeous. Her dark hair waves over her shoulders and down her back.

“Hi, how are you?” I ask, looking from Harlow to the two girls she’s with.

“These are my sisters. I bagged them an evening out by begging Colton’s brother Carver and Stanton Adams to ask them to be their guests.”

“Cheers,” the girl with the short platinum hair says.

I glance from her to Harlow and back again. “You must be Harlow’s twin?”

Facially she looks exactly the same, only their hair differs.

Her smile is wide and friendly as she holds out her hand. “I’m Bardot. Carver asked me to attend with him. The grumpy bastard wanted to come alone, but Harlow worked her charm on him.”

“Carver just needs a sweet smile and cuddle. He’s just like a baby lion.”

“Lions kill,” Bardot deadpans.

The other girl laughs. “At least your date keeps his hands to himself. I’d prefer a lion. I’m sure Stanton is an octopus underneath that suit.”

“A bit touchy-feely, is he?” I ask.

“Yeah, but I can manage him. I’m Grace, by the way. I’m their older and more responsible sister.”

Harlow chuckles. “Whatever.”

I don’t go into why Harlow laughed, but her laughter is infectious as it fills the air with joy. I expect her laughter is because she knows about her sister being on the BetaFans app. Then I remember. “Ah, you’re the girl whose omega awakened recently.”

With a frustrated sigh, Grace rolls her eyes towards the ceiling. “I am.”

Bardot purses her lips, creating a subtle, tight line on her face. “And what disaster that turned out to be. She...”

“Bardot!” Harlow hisses. “It’s our family business. It’s also for Grace to tell her story.”

“And I really need to pee. This baby is resting on my bladder,” Grace says, pressing her hand on her stomach.

My eyes widen in surprise. “I’ll let you go. I have to get the event underway in five minutes,” I say to the girls as we walk down the corridor that leads to the ladies’ restroom. “I’ll speak to you later.”

When the girls disappear, I check the time. With only five minutes to spare, I rush to grab a drink and make my way backstage.

“Where have you been?” Aiden pulls my back close to his chest. His nose nuzzling over my cheeks as he whispers in my ear, “Mmm. You smell divine. Are you...”

I turn and kiss him on his lips. “My temperature is increasing. I think we are days away. But I want to talk to you about something before I go into heat.”
