To New York?

To you?

“I was just a lowly PA, who wasted her life waiting for your company to give me a break.” I press my finger into his shoulder. “And do you know why I was never given a break?”

He narrows his eyes and shakes his head.

“Because I’m an omega. That’s why. I’m qualified for the job, but every time I was overlooked for a beta.”

He swallows as he pushes off the wall and steps away from me.

“And I was overlooked because of alphas thinking they are gods. Twenty-three years old and I’m not with an alpha... a pack… I have no children running around my feet, yet I was treated like I had.”

“I’ll change everything for you.” His gaze flits to my eyes, and I notice a look of discomfort on his face. I just don’t know why. “I’ll give you everything you want.”

“Sorry?” I whisper.

“You can become the best marketer in the country. I’ll train you, but come back... or... I’ll give youeverythingyoureallywant.“ His eyes meet mine. “Anything but come back.”

I suck back a breath and whimper, “Aiden.”

He steps forward. It only takes one step, and he soaks up the air between us again. My eyes follow his hand as he takes mine and raises it to his lips. Giving soft kisses on each of my fingers, his eyes not leaving mine.

“Give us a chance. Not because you’re my omega, but because you want me.”

Taking a deep breath, I try to hold back the pain of my heart breaking inside me. I want so much to agree, but I can’t. And despite him offering everything I want for my career, I know he comes with the package and I can’t do that.

Because since smelling his scent, I now want what Ivy promised me I should wait for. My scent match… my soulmate.

I never wanted it before and now I can’t break my promise. Not when I knowheisout there.

Why the fuck doesn’t Aiden smell my perfume like I smell his?

“It won’t work. We won’t work.”

“I’m not letting you go, Holly.”

“I never belonged to you.”

“But Idobelong to you. I amyouralpha.”

“No, you’re not. My boyfriend will be picking me after work.” I lie.

“Don’t test me. I never spent a lot of time with you, but the time I did, I know you’ll still be getting over me.”

“Don’t be so ridiculous.”

“You’re the one lying. You’re the one who ran from me, rather than talk about everything.”

I swallow, shaking my head. “You told me I was never yours after ten days, Aiden. That’s all you wanted me for.” My voice gets louder and louder. “And now I’m going to wait here in LA for my scent match. Even if it takes the rest of my life.”

“I want you,” he whispers.

The elevator doors open and we both stare ahead for a moment. I turn to him and say, “Have you not realized yet? You never wantedme. Your revenge was never againstme. My OmegaFans accountwasn’tmine. Everything was my sister’s.“ A single tear rolls down my cheek. “I wasalwaysthe good girl. I just wanted to be her for a little while. I wanted to be bad.”

A ripple runs down his throat as he realizes everything. His hand slams on the door to keep it open. “But you’re the one I want.”

I should jump into his arms and kiss his face. My omega certainly wants to. “Aiden, you planned on hurting me because you thought I hurt you.”
