Page 54 of Knot your Good Girl

Metal grinds inside the wooden door, then it opens with a creak so loud she must hear it.

I thrust the money into the landlord’s hand before nodding to Andre, my bodyguard, to get him out of my sight.

She’s here.

Her scent is so overpowering I guess it means she is upset or turned on. I’m going to hazard a guess at the former, especially recalling her face as she stormed into the elevator.

“Stand at the door,” I tell my other bodyguard, Harry. He’s nearly seven feet tall and nobody has ever gotten past him. Though after the way he made Holly laugh, he’s lucky he’s still walking.

I follow the scent to her bedroom, taking it quietly to not spike her fear. Though, if she heard her front door open, I’m going to guess she is currently hiding somewhere in this tiny apartment.

Slowly, I open the door. My eyes automatically search the floor for signs of movement underneath her bed. But like an animal caught in headlights, my eyes open wide when I see her sound asleep on top of the bed.

She looks cocooned, wrapped in soft blankets like a newborn baby. No wonder she heard nothing. I can just hear the sound of music drifting from the headphones she has over her ears.

I stride to her and slide my arms underneath her body, dragging her to the edge of the bed while trying my hardest not to wake her. Once I get her where I want her, I pull her up to my chest and hold her tightly against me.

She murmurs in her sleep.

“Shh,” I whisper, letting her be lulled by my alpha scent before turning around and walking to the door. The same pictures that caught my attention the first time I was here, take it again.

It’s a collage of photos. All are of the same two girls. Wearing the same clothes as babies, toddlers, then a photograph where they are holding a ‘first day at school’ banner. Another on a beach. They always look the same and almost dress the same.

Holly has a twin sister.

My gaze wanders and I see some more current pictures. One sister is laughing, striking a pose in a short dress that is brightly colored. She has vibrant pink hair and a wide smile on her face. Her sister has baby blonde hair. She’s wearing glasses, jeans and a white tee shirt.

They are both beautiful, but this must have been the time they discovered themselves and realized their differences.

I glance at Holly, at her rose-colored hair that is fading with each day I’ve known her, and smile.

I’m going to turn this bad girl into a good girl.

“What am I doing here?” I hear her yell.

She never stirred as she laid in my arms for the journey home. She slept so soundly she slathered over my shirt, leaving a wet patch on my chest that I’ve been dabbing at while she slept.

I leave her bathroom and stride into her bedroom as she tries to fight her way out of her blankets. “Aiden...”

I like the sound of my name on her tongue. There’s something soothing about the gentle way she says it, despite her yelling.

I smile at her. “We agreed you’re mine for ten days.”

“You told me to leave.” Her voice sounds huffy.

I stalk toward her.

She jumps off the bed and steps back until she’s backed against the wall. With a defiant look, she lifts her chin, but she loses her newfound strength when she bites her lip.

“And I told you I was taking you home,” I growl.

“Same thing. One way or another, I was going home, whether it was in your car or an Uber.” She slams her hands on her hips. “So now you can take me back home.”

I spin her to face away from me; she slams her hand on the wall to stop herself from stumbling.

Quickly, I take hold of her wrists, sliding them together until I have them in one hand above her head.

“Why are you so annoying?” I whisper in her ear.
