She ran away as I whipped my towel towards her perky round ass.
After a cooling glass of Greek wine, we unpacked our bags and got dressed for the evening’s festivities at the family villa. She came out of the bedroom in a flowing white and blue dress, perfectly matching the ethos of the island. She looked stunning.
I was dressed in cream cargo shorts and a short sleeved blue shirt. It was warmer than the typical December day on Naxos. The driver arrived to take us to the family villa. Amber held on to my hand, half nervous, half excited. I watched her face as we drew closer to the villa. It was a larger estate than mine, with a long driveway rimmed with olive trees. The villa itself was on one level with white walls and blue window and door trims.
Amber tried to disguise her anxiety but I could see through her smile. I squeezed her hand gently. I knew she would be feeling a variety of emotions because she had originally planned to be doing this meeting with Adam.
“Don’t worry. Everything will be fine.”
“I hope so.”
We got out of the car and went around the side of the villa to the back. The family was sitting at a long dining table in the garden, beside the swimming pool.
“Here they are!”
Dad stood up and came over to welcome us in. Mom and Hermione followed. Mom and Dad hugged me first then hugged Amber to welcome her. Hermione did the same.
“How was your travel? Was the flight good?” Mom asked.
“The flight was fine,” I replied.
“It’s so good to have you here, Amber,” Hermione welcomed her warmly.
“Yes, we are so pleased you could come!” Dad said.
“It’s lovely to be here and to meet you all!” Amber’s face glowed with happiness.
Adam stayed in his seat, his face solemn, but at least he nodded to us. Amber stood a little closer to me and I noticed that her cheeks had gone red, her eyes a little sad. I squeezed her hand.
Dad looked robust with good health in a relaxed pair of shorts and an open shirt, while Mom wore a white dress over her bathing suit. Hermione had thrown on a black coverup and Adam was sitting in his bathing shorts only. It was a relaxed kind of evening so it seemed.
“If we’d known it was a pool party, we would have brought our swimsuits,” I laughed.
“The water is freezing. It’s warmer in the sea,” Hermione smiled.
“Come in and sit down. Dinner is being prepared just now by the chefs. We’re having traditional Greek meze and it’ll be brought out soon. Have some wine. Relax. It’s time for you both to unwind,” Mom invited.
We sat down opposite everyone and I poured some wine for us both. It was a beautifully chilled white wine, perfect for the winter sun.
Dad held up his glass and proposed a toast to the family.
“Yamas!” We all shouted, laughing, Amber following suit.
The meze plates began to arrive at the table and we all eyed the food hungrily. We ate with gusto, with Dad raising many toasts as he started to get a little tipsy on the potent Greek wine.
“So, I hear you two are now engaged?” Hermione asked.
“Yes, he proposed three days ago,” Amber replied, holding her hand out to show Hermione and Mom her ring. They gushed over it.
“Oh wow! He’s really gone all out with the ring. You could take someone’s eye out with that!” Mom exclaimed.
Hermione smiled happily. “He’s picked a perfect fiancée. I’m so happy for you both. Let’s raise a toast to Amber and Mason.”
“Yamas!” Everyone shouted.
“Yamas!” Was shouted many times over, with much hilarity, and even Adam began to loosen up. Amber held court, regaling the family with stories from when she was younger. I watched as she seamlessly fitted in with the family. Mom looked over at me and nodded her head, smiling happily. She was pleased with my choice of partner. Everyone knew about poor Adam and the loss of his love, but seeing how we were together, they quickly came round to the idea that Amber and I were meant to be together.
During a break in the eating, Dad and I went through to the kitchen to find some more wine.
