“I love you so much,” I breathed when I could talk.

“I love you more than you could know,” he replied.

“I never want to be without you.”

“You won’t be. I promise you that.”

He collapsed on top of me and we fell sideways. Panting in unison, we lay there holding on to one another. He briefly left to dispose of the condom in the bathroom. After getting back in bed with me, he put his arm around me and drew me closer to him. I snuggled up against his shoulder and we both fell into a deep sleep.

Chapter 27– Mason

Iwokeupandrubbed my eyes. I could hear something. What was it? I listened for it again. It was someone knocking on my door. I looked at the clock on the nightstand. It was only eight in the morning. Who would be here that early? My tired brain couldn’t engage after the previous night’s activities. I smiled at the memory of holding Amber’s hair and pulling her head back. She’d looked magnificent like that.

The knocking came again. “All right, all right,” I muttered quietly, so as not to wake Amber up.

I climbed out of bed and quickly pulled on some boxers. Going to the door, I looked through the spyhole and saw that it was Andrew. Of course. No one else would come around as early as that. I was surprised he didn’t use the key he had to my place.

Opening the door, I let him in and he went straight to my fridge to hunt for food.

“Good morning to you, too.” I muttered as he walked past me.

“I’ve been knocking for ages. Was beginning to think you weren’t in. I’m starving, what do you have to eat in this place. Ooh, is that beef and noodles? That’ll do me nicely.”

He took the leftover plate out of the fridge, grabbed a fork from the drawer, sat at the kitchen counter, and proceeded to dig into the noodles and eat them heartily. He’d always had a big appetite because of the body building that he did.

He pointed his fork at me. “Mmm, I tell ya, leftover noodles is the next best thing to leftover pizza.”

“Enjoying yourself?”

“Immensely. What do you have to drink?”

He went to the fridge again and pulled out a can of soda. “How can you drink this crap?” He asked as he pulled it open and took a huge glug from it.

I ran my hand through my hair. “Shhh, keep your voice down. Amber is still sleeping in the bedroom.”

He looked at me, concerned. “Amber’s here? Oh, you could have told me earlier! What’s she doing here?”

“She stayed last night.”

“Well, duh. I mean, why is she still here?”

“She’s sleeping.”

“I know, you just said that. I mean, what happened to being a one and done boy?”

I stared at him nonchalantly scooping up more of his noodles and shoveling them into his mouth.

“Those days are long over. Amber and I made up last night. We had a reset, started afresh. We’re back together and better than ever.”

Andrew frowned. “Are you sure that’s such a good idea? How are you going to keep her safe?”

“While it’s going to be more challenging to keep her safe considering she’s now a member of The Order, I’ll just do what I’ve been doing. Staying close to her and keeping an eye on her.”

“Okay, well I’m happy for you. I’m glad you managed to work things out. If anything, sorting it out will help you to stay focused on what’s at stake in the investigation.”

“Yeah. That’s my main goal now.”

Amber came into the kitchen, bleary eyed and wearing only my dress shirt. Unbuttoned. The shirt was barely keeping her breasts covered. The bottom of the shirt played peek-a-boo with the sweetness between her legs. I could tell she was barely awake.
