The fabric molds to my breasts, covering my nipples yet revealing the swell of my chest. I run my fingers through my hair and bring some of the long strands to the front.
Other than framing my face, my hair does a good job at hiding my chest.
I’ll need to pay attention to those. I’m talking about my boobs.
They distract even me. No matter what part of the dress I check, my eyes inherently go to my chest.
I spend a few more seconds looking in the mirror when voices tear into the night, and a few slammed doors startle me.
At once, I spin around and strut to the patio doors. I spot no one outside, and that’s probably because the cars have pulled up in the back.
A door opens in the house, and I look around the bedroom a little spooked.
I know where he keeps his guns. He’s shown me where to find them in case I needed them.
Still, maybe I'm rushing to the conclusion here.
Maybe it’s nothing.
Nothing bad can happen to me here.
It’s a secure location in the wilderness.
Within seconds, he calls my name, and his footsteps move up the stairs.
I sigh, relieved.
“Car?”
I love this voice and the way he says my name.
Frozen, I wait in the middle of the bedroom, all dressed up, smelling like jasmine, tangerine, and wildflowers.
“Where are you, baby?”
There’s no reason to be concerned.
He sounds perfectly fine.
Quickly, he rounds the corner and looms in the doorway.
He wears a smile and the kind of anticipation he’s always had for me whenever he’s looked for me. His eyes meet mine.
Surprise floods his gaze as he swiftly drinks me in.
“Nice dress,” he says, flicking his gaze up from my shoes and striding to me.
He kisses my cheek and spins around, already peeling off his shirt.
“We’re late. And I need to take a shower. Give me a minute.”
My eyes stay on his broad shoulders as he heads straight to the bathroom.
He looks fine.
I almost set myself in motion to go after him when he turns around with his shirt open and untucked from his dressy pants.
“I wanted to give you this later. But this is probably a better moment as it goes with your dress.”
