"Aye, lass." He springs up into a sitting position with me still gripping his hips with my thighs. "I can help ye stay quiet."
He fastens his lips to mine, plunging his tongue deep.
While he ravishes my mouth, I ride him hard. He swallows every cry that bursts out of me, and the need for release grows stronger every second, settling into a heaviness in my belly that won't let up until I go off.
He flips us over again, pinning me to the mattress, and keeps his mouth glued to mine while he pumps into me faster, harder, the slapping of our flesh almost as loud as the creaking of the bed. The climax hits me like a lightning strike, but his mouth muffles my scream while my inner muscles milk his cock. He comes a few seconds later, his hoarse shout swallowed by our joined mouths.
When he pulls his lips away, he's almost gasping for breath and his cheeks have turned a ruddy pink.
He grins. "So much for making sweet love to you."
"You did that. But we kicked it up a few notches at the end."
"More than a few. We demolished the entire bloody post, or whatever those notches are a part of."
I can't stop myself from grinning too. "Yeah, we did."
He rolls off me and discards the condom, then draws me against his side. Enfolded in his arms, I rest my chin in the hollow of his shoulder. My eyes drift shut on their own. I feel so warm and soft and relaxed that I know I'll fall asleep any second.
Callum kisses the top of my head. "Good night,mo chridhe."
As I sink into slumber, I realize I never asked him what that phrase means. Doesn't matter now. All I want is to spend the night in his arms.
Chapter Twenty-Six
Callum
I creep up to the door and grasp the knob, rotating it slowly to avoid making any noise. Then I ease the door inward just enough that I can peek out into the hall. No one there. Good. I can enact my grand plan for the morning without anyone spoiling the surprise. I've never been one for grand gestures, but meeting Kate has changed me—in the best ways, I think. She seems to like me this way, but she even liked me when I was growling and snarling at her. The lass has patience and fortitude.
Those might be the sexiest qualities in a woman.
After a quick glance back at the bed to ensure Kate is still asleep, I slip out and quietly shut the door behind me. The door to my parents' room is still shut, so I assume they haven't gotten up yet. My surprise is for them too, not just Kate. My family has been as patient as Kate when it comes to my behavior lately, so I owe them all a debt of gratitude. I'm starting with Ma, Da, Kate, and Jack.
Once I get into the kitchen, well away from the bedrooms, I pull out my mobile and dial Jack's number.
"What do you want?" he grumbles, and I can hear the sleepiness in his voice. "It's six thirty in the bloody morning, Callum."
"Aye, and I called for an important reason."
"This had better be good. You woke my wife."
"Oh aye, that's the worst sin on earth, isn't it?" My brother has become a bampot for sure ever since his ex-wife came back to him and became his wife, full stop. "Tell Autumn I'm sorry I disturbed her, but I have a very important invitation for you both."
"Invitation? I worry whenever you start plotting."
"Haud her wheesht, Jack. I'm inviting you and Autumn to breakfast here at Ma and Da's house."
"Ah, I see. You're wanting to scare Kate away. Has Ma started planning the wedding yet?"
"No." But I'm dead sure that's coming—soon. "Will ye come to breakfast or not? It'll be served at eight."
"We will be there. Does my lord require us to bring a gift of fealty?"
"Falbh a ghabhail do ghnùis airson cac." Yes, I told my brother to go away and take his face for a shit. He deserves it.
Jack chuckles. "We'll see you at eight."
I hang up and get to work on creating a breakfast feast for Kate and my family. Donnae think she's quite ready for a meal with the wider clan. My cousins can be… Well, let's just say they make me look sober and boring.
