No.I had killed it and watched it die, so how?

Before I can move, the creature rushes toward me. Its razor sharp teeth bared and just feet from my face when suddenly it's knocked to the ground and sent tumbling past me.

A huge beast stands where the creature had been just seconds before. A hugefamiliarblue-eye beast.

Its frame dwarfs the other creature, its body huge and dark as it roars toward the now trembling beast on the ground.

The creature shakes while picking itself up. It begins to snap and froth at the mouth with more strange dark saliva dripping from its jaw as it lunges toward the larger beast.

The blue-eyed beast swipes a huge claw at the smaller creature, slicing its side as it howls in pain. The bigger beast then lunges toward it, its teeth bared and claws ready. And with one swift move, it rips out its neck.

The smaller yellow-eyed creature falls limply to the ground, its eyes now lulling to the back of its head with its last breath seeping from its lungs.

The huge blue-eyed beast then turns to me, blood dripping from its jaw as its darkened eyes meet mine.

My breath catches in my chest. Was it going to kill me? Finish off what it didn’t last time?

It takes a slow step toward me, its eyes never leaving mine as it moves.

Suddenly another rattling howl echoes out in the distance.

A low snarl leaves the large beast's mouth as it gazes toward the direction of the sound and then back toward me.

It was contemplating something. Maybe to eat me first and then go after the new creature in the distance? Or to let me live, so that it could hunt me another day?

It seemed like the type to enjoy the hunt more than the kill anyway.

“You could always…catch me later?”Stupid. What was I even saying? Was I really just trying to persuade a beast to let me live? It was abeast.

I know it was smart, but who knew if it even understood me.

The large beast chuffs, its eyes a little lighter as our gazes meet, and I swear it lookedamusedby my words.

Before I could open my mouth again, it was off, running toward the direction of the rattling howl and the creature it had come from.

I guess it went with option two then.

And itwouldbe safer for me in the forest if it killed those things too. I just had to make sure I get out of here before he’s finished and decides he wants a smaller snack.

Steadying myself against the tree, my legs shake, still weak from the attack and having run so much. But thankfully I was feeling less dizzy and drowsy, now sure the drugs from earlier were leaving my system.

I look at the trees surrounding me in every direction.

A heavy sigh falls from my lips.

Now I just have to make my way through this huge forest. With what little strength I have left and not knowing which direction I should go…With a huge intellectual-homicidal beast roaming around…that knows my scent.

CHAPTER 29

Ihad walked for god knows how long and how far with my feet now raw and bloody. My body felt heavy and tired with every inch begging me to rest. But the thoughts of a warm bed, a hot meal and wiping the smug faces off the bastards who did this, had me taking each step forward until I found my way here.

Wherever ‘here’ was.

I slowly make my way over some jagged gravel, when suddenly I hear a familiar voice calling my name.

I look up and into Mr. Valor’s green eyes as they quickly widen. His features slowly darken as he takes in my current state; my torn and dirty clothes, my messy hair and my bleeding and bare feet.

“Micai.”He rushes over to me just as I stumble, lifting me up to carry me in his arms.
