Page 151 of The Blackened Blade

I remember the blade Gadriel gave me and pull my dress to the side to unsheath it from my thigh.

I grip it in my hands as a groan rings out to my front. Annex adjusts his pants with his free hand, his eyes glued to my thighs and the blade strap.

“Focus Annex.” Calls Ezra, as he narrows his gaze toward the beast in the courtyard.

“Easy for you to say, you didn’t just see the most hottest fucking thing ever.” He turns back to me, pointing to my blade as a serious expression takes over his face. “We’re playing withthatlater.”

“If you survive.” Chuckles Ezra.

“Oh, I will brother, and I might even let you watch.”

Ezra glances my way, a heated glint in his eyes. “I won’t be just watching.”

“Both of you focus!” Barks Creed.

“Easy for you to say, you don’t have to fight with a fucking boner.” Grumbles Annex.

The two beasts in front of us let out a rattling-howl, pulling our attention back toward them. And with that, all four beasts start to make their move toward us.

I grip my blade, ready for whatever will come, when suddenly a thunderous roar echoes out from the forest. Then out bursts a familiar enormous beast, its body huge and eyes burning an unusual deathly blue. It charges toward the black croc-beast and tears it apart in one bite before the creature can even move.

The beast then leaps toward the two creatures in front of us. It takes a swipe with its large claws and rips the first creature's side apart. The yellow-eyed beast falls to the ground, blood pouring from the wound as the large beast lunges toward the other creature beside it. This one tries to put up a fight, but lasts only seconds longer than the previous one. The smaller creature soon drops to the ground, joining its comrade with its neck now torn out and shredded by the beast standing over it.

The beast roars, shaking the ground around us, the last creature in the courtyard turning around and quickly fleeing.

“Shit.” Curses Ezra, as he drags a slow hand down his face.

“This is bad.” Mumbles Annex, gripping the blade in his hand.

Creed takes slow and quiet steps until he's beside Annex. He places both hands up as he takes a step toward the blue-eyed beast in front of them, but freezes when their eyes meet.

The beast growls, a gravelly-deep warning ringing out.

“I’ll stop you if I have to.” Call’s Creed.

My brows cinch together with his words. What was he doing? Was he trying to pacify it, or reason with it? It did seem smarter than your average beast. And it sure as hell was quicker and stronger. But something wasn’t right this time.

Its eyes are like pins, its mouth foaming and bloody. The intelligence I had seen before in its eyes of a predator and hunter, was gone.

It was similar to the creatures here now; a primal, crazed and mindless look in its eyes. There was no reasoning or talking to it now.

Creed narrows his gaze, taking a step closer as the beast bares its sharp teeth.

“Don’t make me hurt you.” Black shadows begin to coil around Creed and the area around him.

The beast's snarl grows louder as he gnashes his teeth toward Creed.

I don’t know about Creed's ability or how strong those black shadows were, but Idoknow that beast. It was strong and powerful, and I’m not sure if Creed could take it out before it made its move. It was quick.Too quick.

I should know, it had chased me more than once.

Then it hits me. Maybe it would follow me?

Maybe it would remember its favourite little snack that kept getting away?

Maybe I could lure the beast away from everyone?

I had gotten a lot quicker and stronger since our last fight.
