Lock leaned back in his seat. “Nope.”
She smirked. Lock…forever a man of few words. Which was probably why he was so well suited to the supersecret Ghost Ops team he was a part of.
Finally, she settled her gaze on her twin. “You still taking good care of the bar, Cody? You know Dad’s watching and making sure, right?”
At the frustrated look on his face, Nylah straightened. “What happened?”
“I had to let two of the new guys go last week, Travis and Dayne. Barry caught them red-handed stealing from the register, one right after the other.”
“Oh my gosh…” They’d never had issues with employees before, and certainly not with theft. Misty Peak was a small town that attracted small-town people. Good people.
Cody ran his fingers through his hair. “Yeah. And now I need to find new bartenders, fast.”
He did. It would be tourist season soon, and being the only bar in town, it got very busy.
“What about you, Ny?” Cody asked. “You just gonna work in that coffee shop forever?”
“I could. I love it there.” Her lips twitched. “Although, I’m gonna have to amend my hours because I’m picking up where I left off with my history degree at Columbia. I just received information on the course work last night, actually.”
The second the words were out of her mouth, her brothers cheered, Lock even throwing his fist into the air and hooting.
“Good on you, Ny,” Cody said quietly.
Eastern nodded. “About time.”
It really was.
Kayden cleared his throat. “I want to know more about this Liam.”
She chuckled. “You’ve spoken to him on the phone half a dozen times.”
“I know. It’s not enough.”
“All you need to know is that I love him. And he treats me well.”
“Good. Because you deserve the best, Ny.”
God, she loved her brothers. “So do you. So I’d like you all to hurry up and find women so I can have some sisters-in-law.”
They all laughed like she’d just announced the sky was turning purple tomorrow. Okay, so maybe sisters-in-law wouldn’t be happening for a while.
She sighed. “All right, I have to go. It’s getting close to dinnertime here. But let’s do this again soon, okay?”
They all nodded, and after the goodbyes and the call ended, all Nylah wanted to do was pull them back to her.
The door opened and Liam stepped in, his smile soft.
She cocked her head. “Hey, you.”
He crossed the space between them slowly and lowered to the bed beside her. “Hey. You okay?”
She lifted a shoulder. “I miss them.” Heck, she’d only said goodbye to Cody a week ago, and she missed him so much her heart hurt. “And…I don’t know…they’re all slowly moving back home. Their lives are changing. I’ll miss it.”
Liam cupped her cheek. “We can visit Misty Peak anytime you want.”
“Thank you.” She leaned into his touch. “I don’t know what I did to deserve you, Liam Shore, but I’m so glad you’re mine.”
“I should be the one thanking you. You’ve changed my entire world.”
