Callum chuckled. “Thought so. I’ll send it through and see you there bright and early Monday morning to check it out.”

“Done.”

When the call ended, Liam briefly checked the pie before heading to the bedroom.Anytime Nylah was out of his sight was too damn long. Hearing her wasn’t enough.

He stopped at the door just in time to hear her brother Kayden saying, “I want to know more about this Liam.”

Nylah laughed. “You’ve spoken to him on the phone half a dozen times.”

“I know. It’s not enough.”

“All you need to know is that I love him.” Her voice was soft. “And he treats me well.”

Liam’s heart thudded. He’d never tire of hearing those words. Not if they were spoken a dozen times a day for the rest of his damn life.

“You sure you’reokay out there, Ny?”

Nylah smiled at Eastern’s question. Somehow, her brothers had performed a miracle and scheduled a video call where all five of them could be on with her at the same time, even though Jace and Lock were still on active duty.

“I’m better than okay. I’m the happiest I’ve been in my life.”

Her brothers studied her closely. Another person may have squirmed under the assessing looks, but she was so used to it she’d be more surprised if theydidn’tlook at her like that.

“So you’re out of Misty Peak for good, then?” Lock asked.

“For now, yes. But I’ll come visit on holidays.” She ran her finger over a crease in the bedsheet. A part of her heart would always miss home and her brothers. But the rest of her knew that Idaho was her new home and where she wanted to be. But then, wherever Liam was would always be where she wanted to be.

“How’s the side healing?” Kayden asked. He’d wanted to come out and see her, but she’d insisted that right now, they just needed some time to get back to normal after the chaos and danger. Then he could visit.

“It’s healing really well. I barely feel it.” She cocked her head. “How’s the search and rescue business going?”

Kayden scowled. “People are idiots. I rescued two twenty-year-olds from out of town the other day. They thought they could navigate the mountains when they’ve never stepped foot in them in their lives. I had to drag their asses out.”

Safety. It was something her brothers were all serious about, but Kayden in particular. Each of them could navigate those mountains with their eyes closed. To them, it was the backyard they’d grown up in.

“Lucky they had you.”

He scoffed.

Well, safety wisethey were lucky. She was sure her brother, who had a tendency to be grumpy, had chewed their asses out good.

She smiled at Eastern. “And how’s my favorite niece, Avery?”

“She’s good. Since I got back to town, she’s been spending a lot more time with me, which I’m loving.”

Nylah grinned. She loved her niece, although she hadn’t spent nearly enough time with her, mostly because Nylah and Avery’s mother hadn’t gotten along. “And I heard you’re the new town sheriff.”

He dipped his head. “Yep. It’s been good, taking down assholes but in a different capacity.”

A way different capacity to being a SEAL. But she could see her brother fitting into the role well. He’d always been a stickler for the rules.

“What about you two?” Nylah asked her other brothers, Jace and Lock. “You guys ever gonna retire and go home?”

Jace lifted a shoulder. “Maybe. I’m not bored enough yet.”

God, if Jace was waiting to get bored, he’d never be home. He was the definition of an adrenaline junkie.
