“I know that feeling,” Callum said quietly as he watched Fiona.

Something kicked in Liam’s gut. He’d never felt the need to settle down, but he’d never been opposed to it either. He dated—short relationships here and there. He’d never felt thatthing…the connection he couldn’t walk away from. Watching all the men around him not only find women they cared about but find a new kind of sanctuary…yeah, it was inspiring.

“You guys are too loved up,” he finally said with a shake of his head, even though there was a voice inside him that said they were fucking right. That heshouldget her number, and if he walked out of here tonight with no way to contact her, he’d regret it.

“No such thing,” Wyatt argued with a laugh.

“How’s everything in Texas?” Liam asked, needing a change of subject.

“Sometimes I have to remind myself that Hylar, Carter, and all their men are really gone.” Wyatt blew out a breath. “We were chasing them for so long, and now we can just…”

“Live,” Liam finished for him. “It feels good, doesn’t it?”

“Yeah, it does.”

Hylar had been the man to lead the project and take it rogue. Carter was the leader of a SEAL team who’d basically worked as Hylar’s muscle. They’d all needed to die, and that day hadn’t come soon enough.

A flash of movement caught Liam’s attention, and he watched Nylah exit the kitchen and beeline for the French doors.

Was she okay? Was she taking a break? There was nothing beyond the deck besides a parking lot.

Or maybe she was leaving early?

Something uncomfortable coiled his gut. If she left and he didn’t have her number, he might never see her again.

He was moving before he could think better of it. “I’ll be back.”

There was a deep chuckle behind him, but he wasn’t sure if it was from Callum or Wyatt. Liam was stopped twice on the way to the door, both times by locals. It was damn hard to be polite when all he wanted to do was chase after her.

By the time he made it to the doors, he was certain he’d missed her. But then he pushed outside to find Nylah turning his way.

Her pink lips parted, and her eyes widened. “Liam.”

God, his name sounded good on her lips.

“Hey.” He closed the door behind him and stepped forward. “I saw you come out here and wanted to make sure you were okay.”

There was the smallest lift of the corners of her mouth. “You sound like you were watching me.”

That’s because he was, but no way was he going to say that out loud and come across as a damn creep. “Just checking in.”

Her gaze softened. “Thank you. One of my brothers just called.”

“Everything okay?”

“Oh yeah. Just Kayden being Kayden. I have five brothers, all of whom love to look out for me.”

“That sounds nice.”

“Most of the time.” She looked past him toward the ballroom. “The party seems to be a hit.”

“Aidan and Cassie are having a good time, which is what counts.”

“Areyouhaving a good time?”

His heart thudded. Because he liked this woman asking about him? “Yeah, Ny. I’m having a good time.”

There was a flicker of emotion in those blue eyes. “Ny…that’s what my family calls me.”
