“After I opened up to you and told you everything about me?” I blinked twice, holding back anger.

“No, I didn't mean that.”

“I need it because I said you were acting like your dad?” I asked. “Your father asked me to take the place of my best friend in his life. And that earned him a punch to the face…then I have to deal with this insult?”

“He did what?”

“You weren't even listening?” I laughed. “So, when you were staring at me last night, you didn't hear a single word.”

“No that's not it I was…”

“Thinking about how much trash a former hooker was saying?” I completed his statement. “Forget it. It's my fault for not listening to my aunt. Maybe if I treated you like the way I did other clients, I wouldn't have bothered opening up.”

“No Olivia wait, I misunderstood,” he said as he reached for my arm, but I pulled away.

“Please don't touch me. Both you and your father can pass your messages without having to touch me,” I told him before heading for my room.

I had enough of this.

Lucas

FUCK!

I punched the wall repeatedly as I thought about what I had done.

“Why the fuck did I do all that?” I asked. “Why did I say that?”

I didn't say that out of spite, it just came out because she mentioned I was acting like my father. The truth is I was, laying accusations and not letting the other side defend themselves. I hated myself for what I had said.

“I need to go to her room and apologize,” I said to myself.

“I wouldn't do that if I were you,” Sebastian warned. “I'm sorry, I overheard everything.”

“It's fine,” I told him. “I just need to tell her it wasn't intentional.”

“She's angry, very angry. I'm only saying this because I feel like you didn't notice,” he explained. “She would kill you if you stepped into the room.”

“Then what should I do?” I asked. “Nothing?”

“There's nothing wrong in waiting out the storm,” he advised. “So, maybe you should do just that.”

It was hard to listen.

“Believe me Master Lucas,” he said, “you really need to let her be at least for tonight. In the morning you can apologize. But for now, wait it out, anything you say would only make things worse.”

I sank into a nearby chair and exhaled. “This sucks, a whole lot.”

Chapter twenty-three

Time to Go

Olivia

I was definitely done. I had reached my limit and was never going back. I needed to leave Richmond because I realized that I was taken for granted.

“What do you mean you're canceling the house search?” the agent asked. “We just found you a place to stay. A very conducive place and not far from the hospital you work at.”

“I'm quitting my job at the hospital,” I replied.
