When I got there, the environment helped me relax. But each time a new patient I had never seen before came to visit, I would panic, thinking it was someone from my past.
The anxiety had me remaining in my office.
"Is everything all right?" Jane asked.
"Hmmm? Yeah, sure everything is; why?" I feigned ignorance.
"You just seem out of it. That's all," she replied and sat next to me. "Do you want to talk about it?"
"It's no big deal."
"Is it the boss?"
"What? No!" I exclaimed.
"Hmm, have you accidentally seen him naked before?" she asked.
"No, I haven't," I replied too fast.
She gave me a suspicious look, "Is that so?"
"Very much so," I tried to play it safe.
"What a shame; I thought you would see the spider tattoo on his stomach," she sighed.
"He doesn't have a tattoo on any part of his body," I stated.
"And How did you arrive at that?" she smirked.
It was too late; I was caught.
"I didn't see him completely naked," I tried to defend myself.
"It's too late," she said.
I sighed in defeat.
"Looks like talking about him makes you feel better," she remarked.
"I mean, he is a good guy," I admitted.
"No arguments there," she raised both hands in defense.
"I just…do you think telling someone about your past is necessary? Even if it's terrible?"
"Well, you need to," she said, "especially if it's terrible."
"Figured."
"The reason is just in case anyone from your past tries to harm you, they would have enough information to help you or save you or whatever," she said. "Is there something you're keeping from Lucas?"
"A lot, it seems," I answered.
