“Please don't do that. You are a good mother, somewhere deep down,” he replied, then bowed. “You always gave me good gifts; so, just this once, please help your son.”
“What should we do, ma'am?” Marcus whispered.
“Did he come alone?” I asked.
“He's not even with a pocketknife,” he answered. “He waltzed in with no defense whatsoever.”
“Hmmm.” I thought about it, while looking at his lowered head. Lucas would never bow to me, nor his father.
Just what kind of girl is she?
“Sure, why not? I'll help you,” I sighed. “Do you have a name?”
“I have a picture.” Lucas raised his head and brought out his phone, handing it to me, “All I know is that his name is Liam.”
I recognized the face, the slippery little eel that I had been trying to kill. He killed and raped one of my favorite girls. Yes, not the other way around. He had a sick method of making girls owe him, and then killed them if they couldn't pay.
“That's not Liam,” I said. “That's the guy I've been trying to kill.”
“Him? So, he is that dangerous, after all,” Lucas uttered.
“He has the police eating out of his hands,” Marcus remarked. “If you meet them concerning this case, and they'd find out he was involved, they ignore it.”
Judging by the reaction from Lucas, I could tell that he had already tried.
“Son, the only problem is that we don't know where his hideout is,” I explained. “The only reason he's been hiding is because this isn't his area. I'm willing to bet he's severely understaffed.”
“You called me son?” Lucas smiled.
“Did I?” I raised a brow, “Must have slipped out by accident.”
“Accident or not, thank you for your help, Mom,” he said. “Also, about finding out where his hideout is, I placed a tracker on her phone.”
“Why would you do that?” I asked. “That's creepy; you shouldn't monitor your partners like that.”
“It was for her own protection,” he explained. “Besides, now that we have it, can we find them?”
“It's all we'd need,” I assured him.
“Oh and Mom?” he added. “Could you be a good grandmother to my children?”
“Don't push your luck,” I warned.
That's what I said, but the idea of having a grandchild, for some odd reason, made my heart feel warm. I was definitely getting old and weak.
Chapter thirty-eight
My Knight in Shining Armor
Olivia
My head hurt. I had no idea how long I had been sleeping, but I had a very frightening dream. I was forcibly separated from Lucas, and he broke down in tears. I tried my best to get back to him; but the harder I tried to run to him, the more it looked like we separated.
I had yet to tell him a lot of things. There were things he had yet to show me. I hadn't told him that I was pregnant for one.
He will probably be upset if he hasn't been able to reach me.
He'll get lonely.
