“Don't, I mean it,” I said with a stern look. “I will be the one to tell him. Not you and not anybody else.”
“Fine, I get the message,” she sighed.
My phone buzzed. It was a notification from Liam.
“After today's meeting, we will no longer contact each other and I will delete your videos and pictures,” he texted.
“Now, that's what I'm talking about,” I said, grinning.
“Something made you happy?” she asked.
“Something did,” I answered. “Remember, don't tell him anything.”
“I promise I will not tell him a thing,” she insisted.
“I'll be going to Cafe au Pan. I've already told Lucas. I just thought it would be okay to let someone else know,” I explained.
“Thanks for letting me know, in that case,” she said, “but put down the mayonnaise and doughnuts first before you leave.”
Cafe au Pan
Our meeting spot was weirdly named cafe that I'm sure the owner didn't put much thought into naming. I arrived earlier than Liam. It was past four, and he was meant to be present not a minute after. Normally, I wouldn't mind, but this time, I was boiling, impatient and ready to go.
“Okay, so sorry for the lateness,” Liam said as he took a seat. He looked out of breath like he had been trying to escape someone.
Even seated, he kept looking around.
“Is there a problem? Should we reschedule?” I asked, more than ready to leave.
“I don't think you should be in a hurry to leave this soon,” he said as he finally settled down. “This is going to be our last time talking to each other like this. The next time might not be so good.”
“Be so good in what regard?” I asked.
“Ignore that.” He looked disappointed like he had just told an inside joke, and I didn't get it.
“I remember my promise,” he said as he signaled the waiter. “If our talk goes well, this might be the last time we see each other.”
Is it just me or is he repeating himself?
“Yes, I know,” I said. “What do you have in mind?”
“I have a lot in mind, actually,” he replied with a sinister look on his face.
“You don't have to talk about how smart you are,” I said. “Just tell me what I can do to stop all this nonsense.”
“We should talk. If our talk goes well…”
“This would be the last time I speak with you,” I completed his words. “I know.”
“Would you like some coffee, sir and ma'am?” the waiter asked.
“I can't drink coffee for now…” I began explaining and was about to order something else when I realized that the waiter wasn't the same person there when I had stepped in.
Before I could say anything, I was sprayed. I couldn't talk. Immediately, I went dizzy, and everything started to spin.
“Lucas…” I tried calling out, but my voice wasn't loud enough.
“Let's have fun tonight, Olivia,” he chuckled as everywhere went dark.
