“That doesn't mean you get to do whatever you want without consulting me,” I said.

“If she submitted the resignation letter to you, what would you have done?” she asked, folding her arms.

“I would have made her stay,” I replied.

“This is why you don’t have any girlfriends,” she sighed and shook her head negatively. “I can’t say I blame you. Thanks to your parents, you have a flawed view on how love works.”

“I am not in love with her she is just the perfect fit for this organization,” I corrected.

The moment I denied my love for her, my heart started to ache. I remembered how hurt she looked when I had made the statement about her past.

“That’s what I thought,” she affirmed and frowned. “Look I gave her a leave of absence so she could always come back. What did you even do to her anyway?”

“It's none of your business,” I said. I adjusted my shirt and left the office.

I was in a state of panic. Just knowing that she was no longer here put me in a crisis. I started to regret every word I had said last night. I even went as far as regretting distancing myself from her when I could have just talked to her about it.

The same thing I'll complain to her about was the same thing I did: hide the problem and distance self.

“Sir sir…” Jane called repeatedly. “Is it true that Olivia has resigned? She said something like that while leaving.”

“When did she leave?” I asked.

“Two hours ago,” she replied. “Did you two not fix your problem? I mean you were giving her the silent treatment and now she's gone. What did you do?”

“It's none of your damn business,” I answered.

“Relax, I'm just concerned about my friend not you.” She sucked her teeth and uttered, “No wonder she left your grumpy ass.”

“Get back here and say that again,” I demanded, but she ignored me and continued on her way.

I was really losing it if I was snapping at my staff. I needed to go home. Maybe I would be able to reason with her before she did anything drastic.

“She's what?!” I yelled.

“Gone, Master Lucas,” Sebastian replied. “Looks like you really did a number on her.”

“Where did she go?” I asked.

“I have no idea,” he replied, “but wherever she went, your father's fiancée followed.”

“Kate is gone too?” I raised a brow.

“Gone? What do you mean Kate is gone?” Father asked as he walked into the living room, “Why didn't you stop her?”

“It's not in my job description to stop fiancées or love interests from leaving unless they stole something,” Sebastian replied. “Stolen hearts do not count. Or in this case a stolen heart.”

“Well, she wouldn't be gone that long,” Father said as he left the living room.

It angered me to my core that I was related to this man.

“What would you do now Master Lucas?” Sebastian asked. “To be romantic, you could always track her down.”

“Fuck,” I facepalmed in frustration.
