“What? Yeah, I guess so,” he responded. “Or maybe we should just stay out of it.”

Strange.

“Are you sure you've never seen this man before? Or maybe you know her?” I asked, my senses were tingling like crazy.

“No. It's just because someone else is coming to handle it,” he said as he pointed over to Olivia's direction.

As I turned, I found Lucas standing with her.

“This is interesting,” I grinned and noticed my brother trying to help the lady out.

After Lucas made the man retreat, Olivia looked at him in a way that made me envious. It looked like she admired him. The way Lucas looked at her was similar: like he had saved someone precious to him.

My brother exited the store with her.

“We are following them.”

We kept our distance and observed them.

“Before we left, you said you wanted to use the restroom,” I said to my accomplice. “You didn't seem to go in the direction of the bathroom.”

“I was lost okay?” he defended. “Now tell me why we are here watching your brother. Don't tell me you're one of those girls with a brother complex?”

“What? No!”

“Good because I'm the only complex you need to worry about,” he said as he held my neck and smiled maliciously.

He always did this. Whenever I let down my guard, he was quick to remind me that he could tame me whenever he wanted. As much as it turned me on, I tried to focus on the mission at hand.

“Not now,” I said as I hit his hand away. “Focus.”

The focus part was just me talking to myself. Then it happened. Lucas and Olivia kissed.

“Bingo,” I grinned as I made my way to them.

“So? They just kissed. What's the big deal?” I asked. “You and I do worse. Isn't that right, rope bunny?”

“Don't call me that outside,” I warned.

“You aren't even against it,” he laughed and followed behind me.

The couple were lost in their own world. I took several pictures and they had barely noticed.

Only after making my presence known that they realized I was there.

Chapter nineteen

Like Father Like Son

Lucas

Ever since Tabitha met our mother, something about her changed. The eyes she looked at me when we were kids darkened. I knew she found it unfair that my father gave me preferential treatment compared to my siblings. I understood and found it unfair as well. She just seemed intent on trying to make me do what she wants and making herself more powerful.

I heard rumors of what she did to some men: strip them of their masculinity and make them recognize her as their master, not even mistress. She had secured a lot of contracts that way, earning her hospitals fame and recognition in the house of the government and medical organizations.

You’d think our father would be proud, thanks to her striking resemblance to mum, it's only earned her scorning. Since then, she had been hell-bent on getting the upper hand. And my tryst with Olivia was the perfect thing she needed.
