Always smiling.

The only man I feel comfortable sleeping in the same bed with, without worrying for my safety.

The kind of man who does not know how dates go but is willing to put in the effort.

The sunflower he gave me and the fact that he had decorated my room.

Despite what others at the hospital might think he was a little hard on me compared to them. If I made a mistake, he would not hesitate to correct me on the spot.

“Olivia you've already set the bar for yourself you can't keep going under that bar,” he would say if I made a mistake twice. “If you need a break then let me know. Don't burn out on me.”

I loved people like that who made me want to take the extra mile and still watch out for me. As I thought about all the good things about him that made him husband wordy, a smile formed on my face.

“I wonder what’s making you smile like that?” a sinister yet familiar voice asked.

My hair stood on end as I turned and noticed him. Liam Stevens. One of my former clients and the one I noticed on my date with Lucas. He was shorter than Lucas, with less of a build, but I knew the amount of lean muscle he was hiding under that shirt. Tattoos of dragons and snakes on almost every part of his torso and arms…and a weird triangle looking one under his eye. Lucas gave off a sadistic boss type of aura. Liam was a full-on bad boy.

“Well hello, Olivia,” he greeted as he closed the gap between us. “Do you remember me?”

“Liam, what a surprise,” I chuckled nervously, while taking a few steps back. “what are you doing here in Richmond?”

“Oh you know the usual business.” He grabbed my arm and pulled me to him aggressively.

“That's nice, I'm kind of in a hurry,” I said. “Is there any way I can help you?”

“Well judging by how I have not been able to reach you for the past two years or so, what do you say to a nice cup of coffee?” he offered.

“That sounds sweet. But can we reschedule for another time?” I asked. “I changed numbers, so I can give you the new one.”

Even after my offer he refused to let go of my arm, and I didn't want to cause a scene.

“Just for ten minutes, that's all,” he offered. “I might have something you need.”

“Another time please.” I smiled painfully as I tried to free myself.

“Are you sure?” he asked

“I'm sure, she's sure,” Lucas said.

Lucas was holding a toothbrush and an open can of potato chips in the other. He had a passive look on his face but the killer intent seething from him was evident.

“Aren't you…” Liam started to say, but stopped and let go of my arm. “Are you a friend of hers?”

“She's my secretary,” Lucas replied, taking out a chip and eating it slowly. “Who are you?”

“Lucas, this is Liam, an old friend,” I replied.

“A very good friend,” Liam added. “Pleasure to meet you Dr. Hills. I've heard so much about you.”

“All good I hope?” Lucas asked.

“Yes all good,” Liam replied and turned to face me. “How about I have that number as you offered. We really need to talk.”

“Alright then,” I said and wrote out the number on a piece of paper. “Here you go.”

“Thank you,” he said and accepted the paper. As he was about to leave, he cast a cautious look at Lucas. I could see the fear in Liam's eyes before he left.

“Are you alright?” he asked, “I think it might be a good time for you to tell me some things.”
