"You have to forgive me, Isaac; I know that it might hurt," Father apologized. "But you should understand…."

"Hills," Kate called with a frown on her face.

"Relax, that's how we talk to him," Father defended with a hearty chuckle. "Isn't that right, Isaac?"

"I don't like it, though," she whispered.

"It's alright," Isaac said. "He is right. My mother was…isa nutcase, and he didn't think twice about it before dumping his seeds in her." He put down his napkin and got up to leave. "I hope he thinks this through properly this time."

"I was merely joking," Father groaned as Isaac left. "That one was always a sensitive one. I heard he's a playboy now. If anything, he's the one to think things through."

"If that's all, then maybe I should get going as well," Gregory announced as he prepared to leave. "I'll attend the wedding. Send the card ahead of time."

"Gregory, not you too," Father whined.

I expected my sisters to follow suit, but neither of them budged. I was about to excuse myself and head upstairs to turn in for the night.

"Sir, you have another guest," Sebastian announced.

"Oh, that might beher," Kate said.

"Let her in," Father instructed, and Sebastian nodded, turning to welcome the new guest.

Usually, I wouldn't be interested, but I heard it. Just a little bit of her voice. The voice that reminded me of a playful night of passion. I swallowed in anticipation. Olivia appeared dressed the way she was the first night we met.

Her hair had grown longer, and she smiled weakly like she didn't want to be here. As she cautiously scanned the room, her eyes fell on mine. I didn't miss the visible surprise on her face, just like the one she had had when we reunited at the hospital.

There was a chance that she didn't even know that I was Father's son. We stared at each other, and my heart started to pound. After a long hour, the dinner had finally gotten exciting.

I smirked playfully at her. She wasn't surprised to see me and returned the look. Unlike Kate, she wasn't scared of looking at my siblings. I was exchanging glances with them and greeting them, too. Although she dressed in a way that wouldn't let her steal Kate's shine, her elegance and presence carried more depth than Kate.

"You're late; you already missed the announcement," Father said.

"You have to forgive me," she lowered her head to apologize. "I had things to do at the hospital and lost track of time."

"Sounds like you're enjoying your time there," Father remarked. "My son has been good to you?"

"Very good," she answered, glancing toward my direction.

I remembered how I acted during work hours and felt like sinking even further into the chair.

"Children, this is Olivia Sinclair, Kate's closest friend," Father introduced her. "She has a pretty good head on her shoulders. She currently works as Lucas's secretary." He motioned to me. "Thank you for that, by the way."

"It's no problem," I said. "Olivia has been a wonderful ally from the first day she started work. She's gotten a lot of respect from the team, and I have nothing but praise for her."

"What's this?" Tabitha grinned maliciously. "You rarely praise anyone." She turned her attention to Olivia. "Have you slept with him or something? Though you don't look like the sleazy type."

"Watch your mouth, Tabitha," I warned.

My sister was thrilled to see me annoyed. She licked her lips in excitement and got to her feet and uttered, "I have to use the restroom."

"Want to inform mother about her ex-husband's attempt at a second marriage?" Helena asked, acting like our father was deaf.

"No," Tabitha said as she walked over to Olivia, holding the end of the latter's hair. "I think I found something else more entertaining."

"Tabitha," I growled.

"Easy," Tabitha said, backing away. "I was just admiring her beautiful hair. I won't bite... yet."
