“Will that be cash or credit, ma'am?” the attendant asked.
“Oh, uh…” I checked my purse for Lucas's ATM card.
“Debit,” I said, handing the card to the attendant.
I turned to find Liam standing there.
“Oh, God,” I said in fear.
“Would he be the one to pay?” the lady asked, concerned about my reaction to Liam's presence.
“No he won't,” I answered quickly and gave her the card.
“But I insist,” he said.
“Thank you, Liam, but I was sent on an errand,” I replied.
“Oh, that's okay. We can talk after you're done,” he snickered with a smile.
“Is everything all right, ma'am?” the attendant asked, looking askance at Liam. “Do you want me to call security?”
“Yes please.”
“No, she's a friend,” Liam said.
“I was asking the lady,” the clerk said and frowned.
“In that case, fine,” I said. “He really is just a friend who had startled me.”
“Okay then,” she said and gave me the receipt. “Have a nice day. I will ask security to help you with your bags.”
“While I'm here?” Liam asked rhetorically. “Don't worry. I'll get the bags.”
The woman looked at me, expecting me to stop him; but all I did was to give a nervous chuckle. Liam held a bag up, showing that he had actually bought something. He took mine to the car. I placed everything into the trunk, while he waited.
“Thank you so much,” I stated.
“I thought you mentioned never doing escort work again?” he asked.
“I'm not,” I responded. “I haven't done anything of the sort in two years.”
“You sure about that?” he asked. “So, who got you this car and whose ATM card was that?”
“Last I checked, it’s none of your business,” I replied, trying to sound strong.
“Olivia come on, it's me Liam,” he snapped and grab my hair forcefully. “You don't talk to me that way.”
“You are hurting me,” I whimpered.
“So sorry,” he said and he let me go. “But what are you doing here? This isn't the store you usually frequent.”
“How do you know the store I usually frequent?”
“Well I've been stalking you,” he replied with a blank look on his face. “But rest assured, it was all coincidental - like today. Anytime I saw you, I worked up the courage to talk, but I gave up.”
That solved the stalker case. I hope that it ends here.
“You could have always texted,” I snapped. “You had me worried.”
