I decided to keep her quiet, but the grin on my face gave her the answer she wanted.
“I didn't do anything,” I assured her.
“As for me, I never thought the day would come when you would open your heart to someone,” she said. “I mean after what happened to that client of yours, I thought you would heed my advice of guarding your heart.”
“I am guarding my heart,” I defended.
“That isn't what I mean,” she explained. “I was worried that you would be so committed to following my advice that you would never end up with someone you could fully trust.”
“Oh.”
“I see the way he looks at you, and I see the way you look at him,” she said and smiled, “and I don't think I have to worry about anything.”
“I know right?”
“Speaking of which. His hands are quite big,” she remarked. “I'm willing to bet a lot of women get sick on purpose just to have him attend to them. I mean if not for the fact that my niece is interested in him, I wouldn't have minded getting a piece.”
She was joking, but for some odd reason, it made me angry, and the anger was visible on my face.
“There it is,” she said and poked my face. “The territorial urge to protect what belongs to you.”
“Hmph!” I looked away.
“You haven't marked him yet,” she said, ignoring my pouting. “I think you should let him know your true feelings. The longer you keep it to yourself, the more harm you're doing.”
“I understand but…” I started but stopped speaking.
“You're scared?”
“Mm hmm,” I nodded. “Recently he accidently brought up my past. I've been worried ever since that maybe a part of him is bothered that I commercialized my previous experience with men.”
“But like you said, it was an accident,” she said.
“I know, but it still bothers me a lot, and I end up thinking about it,” I explained. “It stops me from telling him how I really feel.”
“I understand your fears, but I'm sure he has his as well,” she said. “Talk to him about what is happening in your heart and let him tell you about his own problems. It's going to be your second attempt at love…you've got this.”
I held her encouragement to heart, but the problem was finding a proper time to tell him.

Work was over for the day and I went to his office.
“You called?” I asked as I entered.
“I just finished speaking with my agent,” he remarked. “The renovation of my house is done, and I would like you to move in with me.”
“Wasn't the plan for me to stay in the hotel?” I asked.
“I just want you near me,” he responded.
“That's reason enough,” I countered. My second attempt at love. I can only hope that it goes well.
