I sat back and stared at the blue ceiling decorated with little floating angel babies. I wondered what it would feel like to hold a real baby in my arms.

For so long, I had been on my own, and now I was on my way to getting the family I had always dreamed about.

Seraphina came back in with a massive grin on her face.

“What was the result?” I asked her with trepidation.

“You can’t get pregnant,” she said, the huge smile still on her face.

I wanted to punch her. Why the fuck was she smiling as she broke my heart into a million pieces?

“Because you already are!” She squealed out, waving the test results in the air.

“Ahhhh!” I jumped up off the table, squealing with her.

“Oh my god, be careful, hon!” She said, laughing as she handed me the results.

I stared at the bolded words and cried:Pregnant.

Seraphina handed me a napkin as tears streamed down my face. I was absolutely in complete and utter shock.

My heart felt like it was going to explode.

I shakily lay a hand on my tummy, imagining the little life growing there.

“But I had a negative home test!” I exclaimed.

“Sometimes those are not accurate. We are working on providing omegas with better tools to manage their health,” she replied.

A thought crossed my mind.

“How did you know before you tested my blood? You were already smiling when you left the room,” I asked her curiously.

“I’ve been around a lot of pregnant omegas. I know the signs,” she said with a sly grin.

“Well, I hope you continue to come here for the rest of your prenatal care, Gabriella. It’s been a pleasure treating you,” she said, wrapping up the appointment.

I couldn’t help but give her a hug. Her energy was so kind.

“Thank you so much! Of course, I will be back here.”

As we were walking back to the waiting room, a question popped up.

“Are you an omega by any chance? There is something so relatable about you.”

She froze with her hand on the handle.

“Nope, not an omega. I’m a beta who’s just a bit on the smaller side,” she recited stiffly. Her warm energy was gone, and she quickly showed me out the door, slamming it shut behind me.

I shrugged at the weird exchange and made my way over to my pack, excited to share the wonderful news.

It was going to be so much fun telling them, and I was going to do it just right.
