I gasped at the impact and started falling back.

Strong arms shot out and encircled me, steadying my balance. I wiped the tears from my face and looked up to see who it was.

It was Stone holding me in his arms and looking down at me with concern.

“What’s wrong, darling? Are you hungry or hurting?” He asked in a worried tone. “I don’t have much experience with omegas, but whatever it is, let me help you.”

His caring words soothed the wounds in my heart, and I hiccuped, calming myself down. I took a few steadying breaths, shocked at myself for being this hurt. By now, I should be used to the feeling of rejection; it was nothing new.

“Maybe I should call Roman over here,” Stone said, panicking at my silence. I relaxed into his arms and sighed.

“No, it’s okay. I’m okay. Thanks, Stone,” I finally replied after catching my breath.

“Roman is the last person I want to see right now,” I added.

Stone stroked my hair softly as he held me, and it felt so goddamn nice. I knew it was wrong, but I couldn’t bring myself to pull away.

“That makes three of us,” Stone muttered quietly to himself.

I pulled back from his arms and looked at him with confusion.

“What do you mean ‘the three of us’?” I asked him sharply.

Stone rubbed his short hair sheepishly and shuffled his giant feet around.

“Well, the pack isn’t exactly on the best terms right now because of Roman.” He admitted.

I stared at him until he continued talking reluctantly.

He blew out a sigh and went on.

“Chase and I want to keep you as our omega, if you were willing, of course, but Roman opposed the idea and wants to match you up with any random pack as quickly as possible.”

I looked back at the door behind me, shooting daggers at where Roman’s office was. I was highly offended.

“Well, who does he think he is, making decisions for the lot of us,” I said, indignant at the arrogant alpha’s control over us.

“Well, he is our alpha,” Stone responded ruefully. “But that’s why we are upset. That doesn’t answer why you are upset with him. What did he say to you?”

He looked down at me with such warm, kind eyes my heart felt like it would burst.

Somehow, I knew by the way that he talked that there was no agenda or motivation behind his concern. He was just genuinely worried about me.

I relaxed my body back into his embrace and whispered against his chest.

“I asked him to be your pack’s omega, and he rejected me.”

Stone froze for a second and let out a deadly growl.

“I’m going to tear the bastard apart,” he said matter of factly in a dangerous tone, setting me aside and making his way to the door.

“No! No! Stone, don’t!” I jumped in front of him and placed my hands on his massive chest. I could feel his muscles flexing under my arms with his restrained emotion.

“I already caused so much havoc to this pack. I don’t want to do this anymore!” I cried out, trying to reason with him.

“He insulted your honor by refusing your generous request,” Stone growled out, intent on getting to Roman.

“Well, this would embarrass me more! I would rather just leave quietly and not make it a big deal,” I pleaded with the big giant.
