I lunged at Duncan, wrapping my hands around his neck. "How could you be so fucking stupid?"
"Hey, hey!" exclaimed Killian as he inserted himself between us, prying my hands off as best he could. But I was top alpha for a reason, and my hands didn't budge. Duncan was slowly turning purple, sputtering.
"Kayden, what the fuck? It could have been any of us," Killian tried to reach me desperately.
His words pierced through the haze of my rage, and I released my hands, letting Duncan drop to his knees, spluttering for a breath.
I roared out, releasing my anger to the walls. We finally had an omega, and we lost her. She was perfect in every way, and I got so fucking attached to her. We would find no one like her again. I knew that deep in my bones.
I slumped over to the couch, overwhelmed with sorrow.
Lucien wore a calculated look on his face, unlike the rest of us. The bastard had an idea. I was right when he opened his mouth.
"If she took the gray car, it would have had a tracker on it. Roman would never lend his cars unless there was a way for him to find it," he mused cunningly.
A flare of hope burst in my chest. I leaped up and clapped him on the back. "Good thinking, Lucien. Call Roman and have him send us the details."
We went back out and got into the large black SUV. We would need this space to punish our little naughty omega for running away. My cock hardened in anticipation of finding her, and I grinned.
After a few minutes, Lucien came back and wore a troubled expression on his face.
"According to Roman, the car has been sitting at a remote gas station for a while without moving," he stated.
Unease churned in my stomach at his words. Why would Adrianna stop so long in one place if she were trying to run away from us? She should've been putting miles between us.
"Could she have found out about the tracker and ditched the car?" Killian asked.
"That's impossible," Duncan rasped out, his throat an angry shade of red. "If we didn't even know about it, how could she?"
I ignored him. He had failed the pack, and I wasn't about to forgive him until we found our omega safe and sound. Regardless, we wouldn't find out anything until we got there. I got the location and started driving as fast as the car would allow, speeding through the roads with abandon.
We reached the gas station in a couple of hours, and I immediately spotted the gray car. It was the only vehicle in the tiny gas station. We walked up to it, and Adrianna was nowhere to be found. I sniffed the air. She was definitely here before.
Her caramel scent lingered in the air.
"Well, where the hell is she?" Killian blurted out, breaking the silence.
I scratched the back of my head. "I have no fucking clue." I was at a loss from here. I turned to Lucien, he was the best tracker among us. Sure enough, he didn't disappoint.
Lucien had kneeled on the ground in front of the driver's side of the car. He held up two red, glistening fingers and sniffed it.
"Blood," he stated coldly, "Adrianna's blood."
All our hackles were raised, and the station rumbled with our collective wolf's growls. This was so wrong. Her caramel-scented blood should never be spilled on this dirty pavement out here in the middle of nowhere.
"She didn't leave, she was taken," I said, numbly coming to that realization. Lucien nodded grimly, confirming my fears. Someone had dared to touch what wasn't theirs. They would die for this, painfully and slowly.
"I'm going to check the gas station surveillance to see if that shitty camera picked up on anything," Lucien said, springing into action. Duncan raced after him, desperate to redeem himself after his grievous mistake.
I tore off my clothes and shifted. This was going to be a fight to the death of whoever was foolish enough to kidnap our omega. My wolf was braying for blood, and I would not deny him. I paced around aggressively, stretching out my hind legs and shaking out my fur.
Besides me, Killian followed suit and shifted as well, howling to the night sky. We waited impatiently until Duncan and Lucien came running back, wearing identical grim looks on their faces. They ripped off their clothes and joined us in wolf form.
Lucien mind linked with us, showing images of a white van obscuring the view of Adrianna. Then he showed us images of the van leaving with Adrianna nowhere in sight. And finally, a location of where the van was registered at. That was all the detail the poor-quality camera could show.
Beyond that, we had no idea what else had happened.
I howled to the moon and took off, pounding the earth with my paws. Behind me, I could hear my pack thundering away as well, and I grunted in approval. We were a force to be reckoned with, and whoever dared to take our omega was about to face the wrath of the Bloodmoon pack.
