Madison gives me a nervous look. "Are you serious...?"

Delia smirks. "Most spaces have ghosts, and this place has a rich history. But don't worry, she would never hurt a fly."

Delia shows us to our rooms, which are right next to each other. I almost speak up and tell her we only need the one, but I don't know if Madison wants to go public with our relationship yet, so I keep it to myself.

We'll need to discuss that soon; it isn't fair to keep her a secret if she doesn't want to be one.

"I'll leave you to it," she says. "Can you be ready in thirty?"

Madison nods. "I just need to change and put on a bit of makeup. How fancy are we talking?"

Delia snorts and shakes her head. "Quinn would be just fine in his t-shirt and jeans, or you could dress up like you're going to an upscale gala. People wear all kinds of things to the New Salem."

Madison smiles. "Noted," she says. "In that case, I'll see you in twenty downstairs."

Madison leaves us behind, taking her suitcase with her, and I go to turn around myself, but Delia stops me.

"I. Fucking. Called it," she whispers.

I raise my eyebrows. "Excuse me?"

"You two. You're together."

I pinch the bridge of my nose with a sigh. "Is it that obvious?"

"I wouldn't say that, no," Delia says. "I just know you, Quinn. And you...well, I don't want to go too far."

"You always go too far," I mutter.

She snorts. "Fair enough. What I was going to say is that you're smitten with her. This is more than a fling, right?"

I chew on my lip, a muscle in my jaw twitching as I shove my hands in my pockets. "It's...definitely more than a fling."

"And what are you going to do about her father?"

"I'm not sure," I say. "It's complicated."

"But what you feel for her isn't," Delia says. "Look—I don't want this to interfere with our project, but I'm not going to stop you. I'm your friend before I'm your business partner, and I want you to be happy."

"She's fifteen years younger than I am."

"And I get the feeling she doesn't care," Delia says. "The question is, do you?"

I blow out a breath. "I'm still trying to figure that out."

"Well, I would hurry," she says. "Because from what I can see, it's already going to hurt if you end things. And I'm not just talking about her."

I nod, knowing Delia is right. I have to make up my mind about Madison, and I have to do this right.

She's been hurt by lies and secrets too many times, and I'm not going to fuck things up the way Gavin did with Kylie...or with his daughter.

I'm going to treat her how she deserves. And Madison Sterling deserves the best.
