“He’s my husband, and I want to see him now.”

“Ethan isn’t married. Perhaps you have the wrong address?” Oliver replied calmly and Rachel stifled a giggle.

“I’m his ex-wife Lara,” her voice grew louder. “Get him down here, right now!”

“I’m sorry but you do not have his permission to visit. If you don’t leave quietly, I’ll have you removed from the premises.”

“I don’t know who you think you are, but I demand to speak to Ethan.”

“Have a good day.”

Rachel heard the door close and walked back over to sit on the sofa.

There was banging on the front door for a bit, then the sound of a car door slamming and the rev of an engine.

Oliver walked back in, shaking his head.

“Fuck, she’s out of control. Ethan should file a restraining order.”

“My thoughts exactly,” Ethan murmured as he wandered into the living room. “Thanks, Oliver.”

“No problem.”

“And I’ve contacted Xavier, he’s going to file a TRO on my behalf,” Ethan replied as he sat down on the sofa beside Rachel and ran a hand through his hair. “Maybe I should have just kept answering her calls. It got worse when I blocked her. I don’t know what the hell to do.”

Oliver shook his head. “You did the right thing, cut the cord. Let the legal system take care of it from here on out.”

“Is that from personal or professional experience?” Rachel asked.

“I’ve worked a lot of jobs where the primary has a stalker and often it’s from a past relationship. As for me, I like to avoid drama so I’m good with the casual thing. Besides, ain’t no man brave enough to take me on.”

“You never know, Oliver. I wasn’t planning on falling in love with Ethan and yet, here we are.”

Rachel smiled at the man in question.

Oliver’s phone buzzed and he glanced down. “Excuse me, it’s my boss.”

He walked out of the room and Ethan faced Rachel.

“Still want to be here with me?” he asked, a frown marring his handsome face.

Worry filled his dark eyes and that just wouldn’t do.

“Unequivocally,” she replied and kissed him soundly.

He smiled against her mouth and leaned back on the sofa, taking Rachel with him. His hands splayed over her back, then slid lower and cupped her ass. The playful kiss turned heated until a loud ring interrupted them.

“We have lousy timing,” Ethan grumbled. “Someday soon, we’re going to take a vacation and turn off our phones.”

Rachel scrambled to reach her phone on the ottoman. She tapped accept.

“Hey, Dalton, I’ve got you on speaker with Ethan.”

“Are you guys sitting down?”

“Yes,” They both replied.

“I can’t believe I’m saying this … but the man who contacted us is indeed your father. We compared his DNA to your test results, and it’s been confirmed. He’s alive.”
