“I could sing,” Sadie offered.

“How about you tell me about your new accessory instead?”

“What new accessory?” Sadie asked, dragging the line up the back of Rebecca’s knee, then she remembered. “Oh, right. That accessory.”

“Is that all you’re going to say?” Rebecca asked after a moment.

“It is until I get this line drawn,” Sadie replied, carefully dragging the liner up. When she hit panties, she rose to her feet. “There, all done. Keep your skirt up for a bit—it needs to dry.”

Rebecca turned around. “Well?”

Sadie dropped the eyeliner in her purse. “It’s just a play collar, Rebecca. It’s no big deal.”

“Honey. You’re wearing a collar with Jack’s name on it. That is the verydefinitionof a big deal.”

Sadie grimaced. “I thought it was, when he first brought it up. But then…I guess it wasn’t.”

“I’m confused,” Rebecca said.

“Yeah, me too.” Sadie shook her head. “You can drop your skirt now.”

Rebecca let it go, smoothing the fabric down her legs without taking her eyes off Sadie’s face. “Okay, let’s figure this out. Start from the beginning, and don’t leave anything out.”

“I’m not sure where the beginning is,” Sadie mused and eyed Rebecca’s blouse. “How’s the shirt feel?”

“Huh? Oh.” Rebecca rolled her shoulders. “It’s tight. I think you took it in too much.”

“Tight is the point.” Sadie reached out and undid three of the buttons marching down the front of the shirt that was indeed straining across Rebecca’s ample breasts. “There, how’s that?”

“Better.” Rebecca looked down at the black lacy bra now visible. “And sluttier.”

“You’re welcome.”

“Okay, back to you.” Rebecca stepped carefully into her shoes. “He called it a play collar?”

“Yep,” Sadie replied. “Here, use this.”

Rebecca accepted the tube of red lipstick and the small compact. “Thanks.”

“I mean, I know play collars are a thing,” Sadie went on, poking around in her makeup bag. “I see them all the time.”

“True.”

“But it felt…thin,” she decided.

“What did?”

“The way he explained it.” Sadie looked up at her friend. “He said it was basic protocol, just a way to let people know we’re here together, and that I’m under his protection.”

Rebecca rubbed her newly reddened lips together and frowned. “That is thin. What’d he say when you called him out on it?”

Sadie bit her lip. “I didn’t.”

Rebecca lowered the compact. “Sadie.”

“I know, I know.” Frustrated, Sadie reached up and gave her pigtails a yank. “I should’ve said something.”

“Why didn’t you?”
