“Why does the rainbow endinyour ass crack?”

“I was hoping you’d ask,” she said, and bent over to reveal the gold butt plug nestled between her cheeks. “Voila, the gold at the end of the rainbow.”

He was laughing as she straightened and turned back to face him. “We were going to do one pointing at my pussy, too, but we ran out of time.”

“It’s perfect,” he told her, still chuckling.

“Thanks,” she said and, stepping closer, rose on her toes to press her lips to his. “Hi.”

“Hi, yourself.” She’d left her hair down, so he buried his hands in the silky mass. “I missed you today.”

“I missed you, too,” she said and sighed. “I wish I had fewer clients on Saturdays.”

“Me, too,” he said. “But you’re clear tomorrow, right?”

“Right.”

“Good, because I have plans for tonight.”

“Oh, really?” she purred, and leaned into him. “Would you like to share these plans?”

He chuckled. He rarely told her what he had planned for a scene, and though she grumbled about it, she liked being surprised. This time, though, was different. “As a matter of fact, I would. Kneel, please.”

A curious light came into her eyes, but she sank to her knees without a word, and he felt a surge of pride and affection. Their trust had come a long way in the last few months, and it showed in the easy way she obeyed the simple command without even a glimmer of suspicion or fear.

He turned away to pick up the box he’d taken down from the closet, then faced her once again. Her gaze flicked down to the box once before rising to meet his again. “We’ve come a long way in the last few months, don’t you think?”

She nodded, a curious light in her hazel eyes. “Yes, Boss.”

“We’ve gotten better at talking to each other,” he continued, “and I feel as though our trust has grown. Would you agree?”

“Yes, Boss.”

“Good,” he said, then faltered. He hadn’t planned this part, wanting the words to come from his heart, but now that the time had come, he was fumbling for the right ones.

“Boss?” she said tentatively, and he looked up to see her watching him, worry shadowing her eyes.

“I love you, so much,” he said, wanting to erase that worry, that doubt. “Do you love me?”

The smile she gave him lit her face. “Yes, Boss, I do.”

“Enough to wear this again?” he said, and with his heart in his throat, opened the box.

“Oh,” she breathed, and her eyes shot to his. “You kept it.”

“Of course I did,” he said, shocked to see the sheen of tears in her eyes. “Did you think I hadn’t?”

“I didn’t know.” Her gaze fell to the circle of rose gold inside the box. “You haven’t mentioned it.”

“I was waiting until the time felt right,” he said and lifted it out. Setting the box aside, he held the collar between them. “I’ve thought about how I wanted to do this, and what I wanted to say when I did.”

She looked up at him, waiting, her heart in her eyes.

“But, really, it all comes down to just one thing.” He drew a steadying breath. “Sadie, will you be mine?”

She was nodding before he finished asking, laughing, her smile lighting up the room. “Yes, Boss. Yes, yes, yes!”

“Lift your hair up,” he told her and waited until she’d gathered the bright mass in her hands before slipping the collar around her throat. When he locked it in place with the wrench, he’d have sworn all the pieces of his life fell into place.
