“Hey. How you feeling?”

Mae sighs, putting a hand to her belly and frowning. “I’m very ready for the first trimester to be over. Nausea and exhaustion are not exactly what I’d call fun.”

Johnny raises a brow as Mae doesn’t sensor her words and glances over at me.

With a nod, I turn to Henry. “Hey, kiddo. Do you want to tell them what you learned today?”

My son nods vigorously, yelling out through the kitchen, “I’m going to be a big brother!”

Stevie and Johnny smile at Henry, who is lit up like a Christmas tree, and I get that warm feeling in my chest that threatens to have me tearing up.

“Congrats, bud! You’re going to do a great job, I’m sure.” Stevie ruffles Henry’s hair before walking to Johnny and wrapping her arm around him.

“I can’t wait to meet my new baby brother or sister. I hope it’s a sister.” Henry looks to Johnny. “So I can be like you and Mae.”

Emotions flood Johnny’s expression, and I walk over, clapping a hand on his shoulder. “He certainly loves his Uncle Johnny.”

Johnny grins at Henry, who’s still beaming and nods at him. “And I love my favorite nephew!”

Henry runs back over to Mae, pulling her down to meet his eyes. “Maybe it’s twins in there, and I can have two siblings! That would be so cool!”

“Oof, I hope not, buddy. I don’t think I can handle making two babies at once.” Mae frowns playfully. “Maybe you’ll have a cousin someday.”

She looks over at Stevie, her brows up to her hairline. Stevie smiles with a noticeable bit of a blush before sharing a look with Johnny.

I furrow my brow. “Wait. Are you—”

Stevie shakes her head with a smile. “Way to ruin the surprise, Mae!”

Mae rushes over, squeezing her in a hug. “I knew it! Mimosa Queen didn’t even have one at brunch the other day.”

My heart hammers with excitement, but I’m completely speechless. Then Henry tugs on my sleeve.

“I don’t get it. What’s happening?”

Johnny puts a hand on Stevie’s belly, and together they answer him. “We’re pregnant! We’re having a baby just like Mae.”

“Oh!”

Henry grins wildly with excitement, and the room erupts into hoots and joyful screams. I can’t believe my ears, and with all the noise, poor Henry just stares at the adults like we’ve lost our minds.

After a moment of dumbstruck awe, I mentally shake it off and hurry to Johnny to pull him into a wholly unmanly hug.

“Hot damn, buddy!” I pound his back happily, and Johnny smiles like a loon.

“You really thought you could put this past me. You devil!” Mae hugs Stevie, then pulls her brother in. “And you, do I need to sit you down and talk about responsibilities and financial burden?”

Johnny rolls his eyes. “Ha ha, very funny. I’m sorry for the thousandth time!”

Mae eyes Stevie’s stomach. “So, how far along are you?”

“I’m two weeks behind you. We’ll have our babies in the same month, maybe even on the same day, if one of us is late and one of us is early.”

With a chuckle, I walk behind Mae, putting my hand on the small of her back. “That’s actually quite possible. Most babies aren’t born on their due date, and first-timers can often be late. I think I waited an extra two weeks. My mother said she was about to be induced.”

“Oh, no thank you. I don’t want to be pregnant a moment longer than I have to.”

Stevie shrugs. “It’s not that bad.”
