It’s a gray concrete-like brick, and the yard, if you can even call it that, is a slim patch of browning grass that surrounds the property. A thin, chain-link fence surrounds it, and the gate squeaks terribly as I pass through.
I buzz Mae’s number and wait for her response.
“Hey. I’ll be right down.”
I wait a few minutes on the sidewalk that runs up to the door before Mae arrives, looking like something out of my wildest, most wicked fantasies.
I thought she looked impressive at Johnny’s party, but I can’t find the words for how she’s dressed tonight. When I told Mae to dress for a high-end restaurant, she clearly understood the assignment.
Her dress is black again, but this one isn’t nearly as sweet as the other one. It’s form-fitting and slinky in all the best ways.
With a large slit up the leg, the black fabric cinches in around Mae’s waist. The top looks like it can barely contain her ample cleavage, and it ties around her neck and back, leaving much of her smooth alabaster skin visible.
As she comes to stand next to me, we look like the perfect pair, heading out to a fancy dinner at a five-star restaurant.
“You look incredible.” I smile, my gaze raking down Mae’s body.
I remember that tight little body well, and it’s achingly difficult to keep my thoughts from wandering into dangerous territory.
“Thank you.” Mae nods at my suit. “You look pretty good yourself. It’s a nice change from the scrubs. I mean, I haven’t seen you in a suit since…”
“Johnny’s party.”
A delightful pink creeps up Mae’s cheeks as we both remember precisely what happened the last time Mae looked good enough to eat.Fuck, Johnny would be really pissed at me for this.
I know I’ve already dug that grave, however.
We’ve already slept together twice. A few more times shouldn’t make it worse.
“Yeah.” Her eyes fall to the ground. “Should we go?”
“Yes.” I hold out my arm. “Right this way.”
Mae chuckles, taking my arm as I lead her to the car and help her in. Coming around to the driver’s side, I fire up the engine, and we’re off across town in a flash.
We’re both fairly quiet throughout the drive, and I can’t keep myself from staring at the swell of Mae’s breasts, where they rise and fall as she breathes.
“So, where are we going? You just said it’s a fancy restaurant.” Mae looks over, her tiny purse clutched between her hands.
“It’s called Le Ciel. It’s this gorgeous rooftop restaurant at the top of the Nuit Luxueuse Hotel.”
I’ve been there a few times, mostly with Clara, and it’s still strange even to me that I want to bring Mae there.
But maybe that’s the whole point? I’m trying to bridge the gap between the past and my future.
Hopefully.
“That sounds incredible. I hope I look alright.” Mae smoothes her hand down her dress.
“You look perfect.”
She briefly smiles at me, but then her gaze falls back to the dashboard. Tension has been the mood since I picked Mae up, and I’m more than ready to move on to the more relaxed and fun part of the evening.
Arriving at the hotel and taking the elevator up to Le Ciel, Mae and I are taken to the private table I requested near one of the enormous windows.
The wide span of glass that encircles the restaurant offers a breathtaking view of the city at night, and the twinkling lights below are like stars.
“This placeisgorgeous. I can’t believe I’m eating here. Oh, God. What am I even going to order?”
