“We have been waiting for this moment for many years.” Sil looked out over the brethren of vampires, and they quieted down. “Many of us did not think such a union could work, but it did, and still to this moment does. As a result, Benedict’s gift to his mates has been long debated as well as envied.”
A grumble of assent surrounded them.
Lina looked over at Antony, a smile trembling on her lips.
His dark eyes lit up as his mouth pulled into a smug smile.
Benedict had exclusively fed them and had never once been interested in sharing anything with another vampire—sex or blood. The sort of love and loyalty he gave them on a daily basis was the main reason they had never pushed for this moment. They had waited for him to be ready.
“Join hands and speak the vows you have chosen,” said Sil.
Lina, Antony, and Benedict turned their bodies, so they stood in a triangle, a hand clasped with each of their mates.
Two bloody tears trickled down Antony’s face.
Lina leaned forward to lick them away.
He smiled apologetically, but Lina saw the tears that trembled on Benedict’s lashes also. Her two strong men. She nodded at Antony to go first.
“Lina, I have loved you for centuries and tonight we will make our bond official. Benedict, you do me the greatest of honors for allowing me to turn you, but also for joining us for eternity in this mating. I love you.”
Tears tracked down Benedict’s face.
Lina leaned forward to lick them away. His tears were always so salty. She licked her lips and nodded to her human. It was Benedict’s turn.
“Antony, Lina, I love you both. More than I thought anyone could possibly love anyone. I will always do anything for you and tonight I will prove that. If my human life is the price I have to pay to be with you both forever, then I pay it gladly.”
Lina squeezed his hand, nervous for the first time in centuries. It was her turn. She cleared her throat and spoke loudly, proudly. “Three years ago, I didn’t believe in blood bonds. How could I have a mate in the world looking for me and I for him? Then Fate sent you to me, Benedict. I will never be more grateful for that than I am at this exact moment in time. You complete Antony and I, join us, and fulfill us. I pledge my undying devotion, protection, and love to you, for as long as I exist.”
Antony squeezed her hand.
She looked at both of her men, wanting to kiss them, and take them into her body. But now wasn’t the time.
“You are joined, Antony, Lina, and Benedict.” Sil’s voice boomed over their small congregation. “Turn Benedict this night and he will be forever yours.”
Lina let go of Antony’s hand but kept a hold of Benedict’s. She and Antony had discussed this, and they both wanted to turn him. It would take precision, but they could do it—if they were careful.
Antony glanced at her.
She nodded. It was time.
Benedict leaned forward and kissed her lips. Then he turned his head and kissed Antony also. It was a gentle but surprising gesture. “I’m ready.” Benedict closed his eyes.
Lina took a deep breath, nodding again to Antony.
They extended their fangs and Lina bit into the side of Benedict’s throat.
At the very same time, Antony bit into the other.
They held their mate to them tightly, supporting him as they drained his delicious blood from his veins.
They moaned as one, in pleasure and agony. This was the last real time they would ever drink from him for their sustenance, their life force. His blood was the most decadent, delicious thing for them, especially during the height of orgasm. To no longer have that would be hard, but what they were gaining together was so much more valuable.
Lina groaned and drank more, warmth and pleasure spreading through her body in tangible, pulsating waves.
As they felt Benedict’s heart slow to the point of stopping, they broke away and ripped at their wrists with their own fangs.
Lina moved her wrist over Benedict’s mouth.
