I took a deep breath. What was I doing? This felt like such a mistake. But, didn’t Lou deserve to be with someone who wasn’t embarrassed about his feelings? Wasn’t that the one redeeming quality about Sey?

“When I was at Lou’s place, things happened between us,” I told him suddenly feeling uncomfortably warm.

 “What type of things?”

 I took another deep breath.

“That’s alright. Take your time,” Cali said sweetly. It gave me the confidence to continue.

 “We kissed.”

“Wow!” Cali said with a lot less surprise than I was expecting.

“Yeah. And I might have told him that I was in love with him and that I have been from the moment we met,” I said feeling my face flush.

 “Is that true?”

 “What?”

“That you were in love with him since the moment you met?”

“Yeah,” I admitted for the first time to anyone.

 “That’s amazing.”

 “Why do you say that?”

“I don’t know. It takes a lot of courage. Thanks for sharing that. It means a lot to me.”

Out of all of the ways I could see this conversation going, him saying that it meant a lot that I told him, wasn’t one of them. What was I supposed to say to that?

“Thanks for being cool about it.”

Cali lowered his head turning red.

“What?” I asked seeing there was something he wasn’t saying.

“I had a crush on a guy,” he said shyly.

“You did?” I paused and thought about it. “Is it someone I know?”

 He shook his head embarrassed.

 “Who was it?”

 Cali hesitated.

“You don’t have to say if you don’t want to.”

“No, I want to tell you. I just…” he took a deep breath and centered himself. “It was Quin.”

 “Quin?”

“Yeah. You know that first time when Quin and Mr. Rucker… I mean Cage came to Snow Tip Falls?”

I remembered the time. “Oh yeah.”

 “Then.”
