Two, walking through the snow would have cleaned off the silver from his claws.

Dominic was baffled as to why he’d been out of it for so many hours, but right now, he just wanted to find Ezekiel and gut the bastard.

“I’m not picking up any wolf scent,” Wyatt said. “I doubt we will, considering how things went down last night. There’s been plenty of time for his scent to dissipate.”

Dominic cursed the weather. The winds had picked up this morning, and Wyatt was right. Whatever scent Ezekiel had left behind was long gone.

“Maybe we should start moving in the direction of town,” Morgan suggested. “Or one of the many empty homes in the area.”

Midnight Falls was a small town, but outside of the metro area of downtown, houses and farms were widely spread out. There were not only empty homes but shacks, barns, and massive amounts of woods Ezekiel could be hiding in.

It was like looking for a needle in a haystack. The bastard could be anywhere.

But Dominic didn’t want to give up. Ezekiel wouldn’t stop coming for them, and if he and Julian stood a chance of having a happy life together, Dominic needed to put the wolf down.

Permanently.

Screw arresting him.

Screw trying to reason with him.

Screw Ezekiel.

The guy wouldn’t listen to reason. He wouldn’t stop to think that this was his son’s fault. Which it was. He didn’t want to hear anything bad about Robert. Ezekiel refused to believe Robert had done anything to warrant his death.

Dominic saw things differently. His mate had been under attack, and Denali had done the right thing. Robert had turned on Cannon, had attacked him, even after Cannon had warned the wolf to stand down, a warning Robert had ignored.

“What do you want to do, boss?” Cannon asked. “Go toward town or farther into the woods?”

“Would Ezekiel hide out in town?” Dominic wondered. “He drove into Midnight Falls in a car. Where is that car?”

“What kind of car?” Morgan asked.

“Dark green Camaro,” Dominic said. “I only caught a glimpse of it when he drove by the diner and didn’t see it in the parking lot at the station. Maybe if we find the car, we find him.”

Wyatt blew into his hands.

“Cold?” Dominic asked.

“I’m a cheetah,” Wyatt said. “I like warmer weather. This cold is for the birds.”

“The ones who haven’t migrated,” Cannon said with a chuckle. “Do you want me to start a fire for you, make you some hot chocolate?”

“Shut the hell up.” Wyatt tucked his hands into his jacket. “Tell me you aren’t cold.”

“I’m hot-blooded.” Cannon winked.

“You’re a lion shifter,” Wyatt argued. “You should be just as cold as me.” He waved a hand at Dominic, then Morgan. “They’re the only ones who aren’t bothered by the cold because they’re bears.”

“Ladies, knock it off,” Dominic growled. “Squabbling isn’t going to help.”

“He started it,” Wyatt grumbled.

Dominic wanted to suggest they go into town, only because he wanted to see Julian. He missed his mate and felt an ache in his chest to be with him. Dominic had fallen in love with the guy but had yet to tell him.

Why hadn’t he told Julian that he loved him?

“Let’s drive around for a bit to see if we can spot the car,” Cannon said. “It’s better than traipsing through the cold woods. Wouldn’t want Wyatt to catch the sniffles.”
