“Oh, my God,” Addie whimpered.
Their erotic adventure in the pool was cut short by the presence of multiple members of Mahes staff filtering out from the kitchen, carrying multiple trays of food. Addie caught the scent as she nearly spilled over into the pool from rubbing up against a perfect stranger, forcing her eyes to pop open and notice that they were no longer alone.
She stopped grinding and raised her head from his chest. He smelled of sweet smoke and pine.
“We have company,” she said breathlessly.
Mahes growled, which caused a tingle in Addie’s pussy. It sounded animalistic, like the lion inside was trying to come out. He bent to her, fluttering his lips over her own, then plunged deep into her.
The kiss was unlike any other kiss she’d ever experienced in her life. It nearly took her out of the realm, casting aside the embarrassment of having strangers watching her being fucked by the poolside. But when they parted, she could still see them out of the corner of her eye, setting down endless trays and a bottle of wine.
“I’ll get rid of them,” he grunted, eyes wide and black as night.
Addie shook her head, somehow peeling herself from him. She realized that she actually was hungry from her trip, but the sight, smell, and taste of Mahes had sent her into a tizzy. She’d rather have privacy to explore each other’s sinful indulgences. Hell, maybe even later in the pool again.
“Let’s eat now and save some energy for later,” she whispered, running her fingers along his chest.
Mahes pursed his lips, and for a moment, Addie thought she might have to force him away. But he did move, eventually, backing with steely-eyed reluctance.
A staff member held out a towel for her, and she thanked him, wrapping it around her body. It was still warm out, the sun relentlessly blazing, but a cool rush of wind blew, ruffling the umbrella and furniture on the patio. It felt different than Earth’s wind … the odiferous nature of it was certainly far more agreeable.
Then she caught the scent of what was for lunch. She recognized every single one of them, which was confusing.
Addie took her wrap from the chair and pulled it over her body, even though Mahes looked disappointed. She liked that he wanted her skin to be out in the open. It once again made her feel like she was somewhat in charge of her destiny.
She then sauntered over to where the trays had been laid out. Before her was a rather overgenerous display of every greasy, deep-fried food from her planet … macaroni and cheese, pepperoni pizza, chicken wings slathered in honey garlic sauce, and cheeseburgers. It all looked rather delectable, but she couldn’t help but feel odd about being served all that on a different planet.
“What’s wrong?” Mahes barked.
He was standing next to her abruptly, a towel wrapped around his waist. His brow was furrowed deep, and the chef appeared to be visibly cowering.
She opened her mouth to speak, but the great, bellowing king cut her off before she could explain her thinking.
“I told you to get all the Earth food she wants, Ollie!” Mahes chastised.
The chef stood there, looking perplexed and frazzled. Addie felt terrible, so she took Mahes by the hand before he could blame the chef any further.
“No, no, it’s all right,” she said, reassuring him with a smile. “He did do that. Thisisall Earth food. I was just hoping to try out some Nova Aurora food. Back on Earth, there are many different cuisines for many different cultures, right? I love to try all the different ones. That’s what I want to do here as well.”
King Mahes raised an eyebrow, his jaw softening slightly. Then he raised his voice once again, reminding the chef of a mistake he hadn’t known he’d made.
“So, what are you waiting for? Get back in there and get some of our planet’s staples!”
“Yes, sir!”
The chef sprinted inside as if his life depended on it. Addie rubbed her face hard with her hand, which only caught the attention of the king.
“Is something else wrong?” he asked in a tone that was both agitated and mystified.
Addie couldn’t help but laugh. She took him by both hands, realizing that she barely knew the man she was about to let inside her in the pool. It didn’t matter, but it felt rather extraordinary, even for a person as liberal as Addie.
“Nothing is wrong, Mahes. I promise you. I am touched that you went to that much effort for me … to actually get Earth food brought in for me. It’s very kind and sweet.”
She brought both his hands to her heart and moved them in a slow circle. She didn’t know which phrases came to Nova Aurora from Earth, and she felt compelled to explain things to him when he looked rather confused.
“I want to make sure you have the best time, Addie. That is of vital importance.”
It was abundantly clear that the shifter king cared enormously about what Addie thought of him. It was more than what any human man had done for her … next to the wonderful fact that she nearly got off in a pool after mingling for a mere thirty seconds.
