“You’ll never get rid of them if you name a beach after them,” he said, kissing her hand.
“What if I want them to stick around?” This made Quinn laugh as they walked down to the beach. Meredith had no trouble finding her way down now.
Quinn had a blanket and a basket set up in front of the fire. He opened the lid and pulled out a bottle of red and two cups. “I even have some marshmallows.”
He pulled out two sticks as well.
“You thought of everything,” she said, impressed.
He poured two cups, and they sat down in front of the fire. She snuggled deep into his arm, letting the crackling fire warm her cheeks. Then she pulled out the piece of sea glass she had carried with her since he’d given it to her that day.
“You kept it?” he said with a smile.
She nodded and turned to face him. “I’m ready to make my wish.”
She put it in her palm, closed her eyes, and made her wish. Then, she took the piece of sea glass and threw it as far as she could into the dark water.
