She shook her head. “I think I’ll be fine.”

The drive back to the house was slow. Sin stared out the window, not saying anything and I didn’t press her. There would be plenty of time for questions later.

The sun was heading back towards the horizon as the late afternoon turned into evening. Turning back onto the road to the house, I chanced glances to where she sat perfectly still.

“I was worried,” I confessed quietly, just as I shifted the car into Park. “What were you doing out there by yourself?”

She turned to face me for a moment, her lips puckered a little. “Nothing. Just looking around.” She looked back out the window and opened the door.

“Just wait a second.” I reached for her hand, but she pulled it away before I could grasp it. I stepped out and walked around the cab, meeting her before she could get too far away. “Hey,” I said again, grasping her upper arm to stop her. “You shouldn’t be walking on that ankle.”

“I’ll be fine,” she told me, but it didn’t stop me from bending and scooping her up in my arms.

The feel of her against me once again comforted me. “That’s better.”

“I’m starting to think you like carrying me.” She giggled.

“I do,” I confessed. She looked up at me and I stopped at the base of the three stairs that led to the front door.

I stared down at her. Strands of her dark hair had leaves in the ends and her icy blue eyes stared into mine. Her sassy mouth closed for the moment as her focus shifted from my lips, back to my eyes. “Do you like a man who sweeps you off your feet?” I asked.

Her hand slapped at me, although with no strength behind it. “Are you suggesting you’re the man for the job?”

“I could be,” I answered her honestly. Her eyes widened at my response.

I didn’t exactly mean to let that slip, but I couldn’t take it back now. I didn’t want to, not at all. We had been flirting for the past few weeks, and when I made her orgasm in the bed of my truck last night, I thought we were moving forward in this direction anyway. At least I hoped we were.

“Is that right, cowboy?” Her question was only just above a whisper.

Leaning down, I stopped only a hair’s breadth from her lips. “It is.”

As her breath caught, I couldn’t wait a second longer. I closed the remaining space between us and kissed her. Her lips were soft against mine. My eyes closed as her mouth opened for me, and I brushed my tongue along her lower lip before pushing inside.

She tasted like heaven. Even better than I remembered. She twisted in my arms and wrapped one of her hands across my neck, running two of her fingers along the top of my spine. I moaned a little into her mouth as sparks sizzled down my back and travelled straight to my groin.

“Jesus, woman.” I dropped her legs gently, ever aware of her sore ankle. “You’ll be the death of me, I swear.

She giggled again. “I remember you telling me once that if I killed you, you’d die a happy man.”

I remembered that. “That still stands.” I growled, pressing my lips against hers again. With that, my hands wrapped around her waist and then travelled over her ass to the tops of her thighs, clasping them and bringing her up so she was flush with my body. She laughed quietly and kissed me, nipping my lip and using that sinful tongue of hers to taste me back.

“Should I be worried that you’re laughing when I kiss you?” I asked between kisses.

“Not at all.”

Together we moved through the house, my eyes sweeping around us as we went, not wanting to run her into anything. Finally, we arrived in the kitchen where I deposited her on the bench and kissed her with a hunger that roared inside me.

A laugh that didn’t belong to the woman I was busy devouring interrupted the moment and I broke apart from her. My eyes landed on who had interrupted.

“Shit.” I grumbled, resting my forehead against hers. “We’ve got company.”

“Don’t let me stop you, lover boy, it was just getting interesting.” Kenzie laughed as she munched on a piece of raw carrot.

“Oh, Dolly,” Savannah admonished as she entered from the dining room, “leave them be. We’ve been waiting to walk in on Ry kissing a girl for a hell of a long time now.”

“At least he’s not like Colton.” Kenzie waved the carrot in my general direction. “I’ll have you know that I caught him with Stacey the other day in the barn. I swear to God, I almost died.”

Pulling away from the woman in my arms, I rolled my eyes. “Come off it, you two,” I told them.

After picking Sienna back up from the counter, I headed out of the kitchen. The moment we were out of earshot, I leaned closer to whisper into her ear, “Once I get you upstairs, we’re going to continue what we started.”

“Is that a threat, cowboy?” Her voice was just above a breathy moan. Leaning back, I saw the excitement in her eyes.

“It’s a promise.”

As her eyes lit up even more, a sense of happiness washed over me. We were completely, and utterly busted. Right now, I didn’t care one little bit.
