Epilogue
Ryder
My left hand now wore the band of a married man, and hell if it wasn’t the best feeling on the entire planet. I had thought seeing Sienna with my diamond would be enough, but no. I was selfish and so damn possessive of her that the moment she agreed to be mine, we started planning the entire event.
It was small, just my immediate family, and that included my best friend. Simple, and on the family ranch. We’d set some seats close to the fire pit where we’d enjoyed our first date, and the weather was perfect. Spring had well and truly arrived, and along with it, a change in me.
The wedding was one of the best days of my life. The moment I saw her in that white dress walking towards me, I knew I had to be one of the luckiest men alive, if not the actual luckiest. She looked so goddamn beautiful on Logan’s arm.
The memory played in my mind as Sienna leaned in even closer, took my hand and whispered, “You keep giving me surprises, now it’s my turn.”
She sat on our bed beside me, dressed in my shirt, with sex-tousled hair and smiling in such a way that I couldn’t help but grin back. I had put that look on her face, and I was mad enough about her to want to do it again already. “What is it?”
“I mailed the letter to Daddy.” She’d pored over it time and time again, before finally just putting it in her bag and heading into town today. Though it had taken her two hours to mail a letter. I knew it must have taken an emotional toll on her to put that part of her life in the rear-view mirror.
Considering it was something I had expected, I wasn’t overly surprised at her admission. But that didn’t mean I wasn’t aware what a big deal it was to her. “I’m proud of you,” I told her, leaning over and kissing her softly. Her lips melted against my own like they always did.
But before I could deepen it further, she pushed at my chest with her free hand, putting an inch between us. “That’s not the surprise, though.”
Raising an eyebrow at her, I wondered what else she needed to tell me. “I’m still proud of you anyway.”
“Proud of us, cowboy.”
“I didn’t do it, you did, darlin’.”
“No.” Her hand slipped under the pillow and she smiled at me before pulling whatever was under it into view. “I wasn’t the only one who mailed it.”
She flipped the piece of paper over on her lap, and as my eyes followed the movement, I saw the black-and-white image.
Heart racing, I squeezed her hand. “Is this?” My voice wavered. “Is this a baby, Sienna? Are you saying that you’re going to be a momma?”
One look at that beautiful smile of hers and I was lost in her. “I’m saying you’re going to be a daddy. To both our babies.”
“Twins?” Oh my god, I was going to be a father. Holy shit. Twins too, Lord help me. Lord help my wife.
“I didn’t even know that I needed these little treasures until I saw them on the ultrasound machine.” She wiped at a tear that had fallen onto her cheek. “You have a habit of giving me things I don’t know I need.”
I looked from her to the picture and back. Finally, when I could bring my eyes to hers, I wasn’t ashamed at the tears that wanted to spill over. “You’re not the only one who didn’t know how much they wanted these babies until they saw them. I’ve wanted children for a long time, and when I met you, I thought, perhaps it might happen. The thought of it one day becoming a reality pales compared to just how happy I am at this moment.”
“Are you truly happy?” she asked as her voice wobbled with emotion.
Laying her back, I settled myself between her legs and entered her slowly. With my eyes locked on hers, I gave her that last little piece of me. “I’ve never been happier than in this moment.” I rolled my hips and watched her bite her lip. “You make me so damn happy, Sienna-Grace Larsen.”
“I’m glad, because you make me so damn happy too, Ryder Larsen.”
As her words reached my heart, I knew that even though life was about to change, I couldn’t imagine my life getting any better than this.
As Sienna came undone beneath me, I couldn’t help the words that came out as I slipped from her body and held her against me.
“I bet Bob couldn’t have done that.”
“Nah, you’re right.” She paused, coyly looking up at me.
“Spit it out, woman.”
“Although he never let me down, he could never give me what you have.”
