When I got on one knee, opening the diamond ring from across her, I asked, "Will you be my wife?"
Amelia nodded so excitedly that I couldn’t tell if she was pretending or not. She jumped up, hugged me a few times and acted like she didn't know about the engagement.
“Yes!” she screamed. “Yes, I’ll marry you, Henry Robinson!”
If Amelia resigned from being a doctor, I recommended she start an acting career. I smiled as I slid the ring onto her ring finger. Amelia helped me up and planted a kiss on my lips. I smelled her familiar cologne and shampoo scent. It was a vanilla flavor sprinkled with a subtle rose scent. The last time I held Amelia like this, I wished she would never leave my room. I held Amelia by her waist, and she tugged at my shirt. Amelia kissed me back. I felt her breathlessness in my mouth, her passion rubbing on my soul. She bit her lips seductively when we both pulled away.
I leaned closer to her ear to say, “If the cameras weren’t here, I would have taken you right here.”
“I don't mind,” Amelia replied, holding me by my arm.
I still hadn’t gotten over the last time we spent together. Now, it dawned on me that the more time I spent with Amelia, the more I longed to spend more time with her. She’d surrendered herself to me in an intoxicating manner. She’d let me take her for the first time. Now, I wanted to be the first and last man she’d ever be with.
The cameras started flashing on our faces, and my wide smile made my chin grow tired. We both smiled as we receive lots of congratulations. I moved to the crowd to thank everyone, even if I didn't know them. My eyes caught Julia's when I looked at the restaurant's other end. My once wide grin shrank into a frown.
What was Julia doing here? And how did she know I was proposing today? I sought my brother's attention, but Troy seemed to have a battle of his own. He had disappeared alongside Camille.
“Are you okay?” Amelia tapped my shoulder as she follows my eyes. Thankfully, Julia had disappeared into one of the many doors.
“I’m fine,” my voice cracked.
Amelia got my attention once more as we moved around, posing for pictures and thanking everyone here to witness our engagement.

I took another drive home, where Julia was waiting for me by the door.
“What are you doing here?” I walked closer to her by the door.
“You won’t pick up my calls,” Julia replied. “I thought I should come by your house.”
“Julia,” I started, “I’ve told you this is over.”
“It’s because of the doctor girl, right?” Julia paused. “Amelia?”
Julia was an old flame, someone I was involved with before I had met Amelia – long before I knew I'd have to marry Amelia.
My eyes widened. How did Julia know about Amelia? “Have you been following me?”
Julia smiled, “I saw you with her at the party.” Julia moved closer while I took a few steps back. “We can still work something out. We can still be exclusive.”
“No,” I responded. “I don’t want to be exclusive, Julia.”
“I knew you'd say that,” Julia replied. “What do you think the press will say when I leak our pictures to the media.”
Julia had brought out a bunch of pictures to where I was meeting her. She'd had someone take pictures of us to blackmail me about it.
“What do you want?” I breathed heavily, looking into Julia’s evil eyes.
Troy was right; I may be done with Julia, but she was not done with me yet.
Chapter five
Just Like Mother
Amelia
I'd seen how Henry looked at the crowd during our engagement dinner. He'd seen someone he wasn't expecting and wished never to see. My phone buzzed just in time, reminding me that I had to pick up some information about Henry from my private investigator. Then, I remember I had this friendship date thing with Camille, which, unfortunately, I’d have to cancel.
