‘No, it’s not.’ She took his phone and found something else. ‘That’sromantic.’
‘Carmen!’ He looked at her selection. ‘That’s a brass band!’
‘It’s perfect.’
She closed her eyes and Elias knew then that he was in serious trouble. Because one date wouldn’t be enough.
Right now it felt as if a thousand wouldn’t be enough.
Carmen felt his hand on her face and the music stroking her soul. She never wanted this perfect night to end...
He touched her shoulder, and through the silk slip dress he stroked one breast, till she ached for him to touch the other. But instead she felt the heat of his palm on her stomach, and then the ache of his fingers tracing light circles.
She knew when he lifted the hem of her dress that he was watching her.
‘Don’t stop,’ she said.
‘Shh...’ he told her, and she felt his fingers slip inside her knickers.
‘Take them off,’ she told him.
‘Quiet,’ he said.
And she screwed her eyes closed as his skilled finger slid down and in, knowing just where to touch.
She wanted to call out, but she bit down on her lip, because it felt as if he was drawing invisible threads from her thighs, to her stomach, right up to her breasts.
‘If I’d known it was your first time,’ Elias said, and she felt his fingers sliding in and out, in and out, ‘I’d have done this...’
She was raising her hips to meet his palm.
‘With no kiss?’ she accused, and opened her eyes. She stared at him for a moment, but then she closed them again to the bliss he delivered, till the thread was pulled so tight that she lifted her hips to a flood of warmth. She knew he watched her as she came against his palm.
‘Bed,’ he said, and tipped her off the couch.
He led her on shaky legs to places unknown. He could have led her off a cliff and she’d have gone, but instead she got the treat of seeing the master bedroom, with low lights and curtains drawn against the night. Even the bed was turned back.
‘Housekeeper?’ Carmen asked, as he took off her dress and removed her knickers.
‘Igot the bedroom ready,’ he informed her and she felt her throat constrict as he took off his heavy watch and placed it bedside, then he started to unbutton his shirt.
‘Let me,’ Carmen said, undoing the annoying buttons and sliding the shirt down his arms.
Finally she touched the mole on his shoulder, and his flat nipples, and she breathed against his chest just to inhale him.
Elias dealt with the rest of his clothes as she explored him with her hands, and when they were naked together for the first time it felt as if a wrong had just been made right.
‘I should have kissed you like this,’ Elias said, and his mouth met hers.
He kissed her on the lips, so measured and so deliciously slow that she felt as if she might cry...for she’d had never dared imagine that the severe man she’d first met could be so tender.
He took her to the bed, nudging her there with his body, and she held on to his neck even as he lowered her down.
She had to touch his body, to feel his shoulders, his back... She whimpered into his mouth as he gave her his tongue, parting her legs, needing more, needing him, needingthis...
‘If I’d known...’ he said, and he entered her so slowly it made her cry out at the exquisite bliss of him squeezing into her.
She closed her eyes to the sound of his breath in her ear, but then he lifted his head.
