It’s just a text.
I can handle a text.
However, I spend another ten minutes going back and forth about what to say until I end up deciding on something.
Me: Hey, Luke! Here’s my address like we talked about. Hope your night is going well.
I don’t hate it. But I don’t love it either.
It’s too late now.
Should I have mentioned my name? No, it’s probably obvious who’s texting him. Unless he talked to someone else about getting their address? Before I can add on a tacky “it’s Ava” message, my phone buzzes.
Luke: Hey! My night has been pretty quiet, so I count that as a win lol. Hope yours is going well too.
Luke: And thanks for the address. I’ll make sure to use my maps app, so I don’t get lost on Saturday.
He sends a laughing emoji, and I find myself dying to hear his laugh. I don’t think I heard it once today, which is such a crime.
Me: Well, on the way to wherever we’re going, I can oversee directions if you want. I’m a pretty good navigator.
Me: (You will have to tell where it is we’re going though)
I also send a side-eye emoji.
Wyatt would probably tell him differently about me being a good navigator because of that one time I got us lost, but it was ONE time! And it was DARK. Everything looks different when it’s dark.
Luke: Hmm…
Luke: I probably should keep you in suspense until we leave.
Does this count as flirting? I feel like it does. Even if it’s just a little bit?
Honestly? Judge me all you want, but I’m taking the scraps…
Me: You couldddd give me a hint.
I add a pleading face emoji for good measure.
The messaging dots move and disappear a few times, and I raise an eyebrow at my phone screen. Is he trying to decide if he’s going to give me a hint or not?
Luke: I could.
Luke: But I’m actually about to fall asleep. So…
And then he sends a shrug emoji.
Suddenly, I don’t care about getting a hint anymore. I’m internally hyperventilating at the MAJOR possibility that Luke is on his bed right now.
And I have questions.
Important questions, like…
1: Does he sleep shirtless? (If so, no complaints here)
2: Which side of the bed does he prefer? (I prefer the left side, but I can compromise)
3: Is he a blanket or sheets kind of guy? (It honestly doesn’t matter to me, since both are acceptable options)
